Terrorism has always been a tool of communism. This includes Islamist terrorist movements. Much of this goes back to Sayyid Qutb, who is regarded as the Karl Marx of Islam. His works, which were regarded as heresy within the religion, went on to become key doctrines for modern totalitarian states in the Muslim world, and key doctrines on the use of terrorist violence. Movements that pull directly from him include al-Qaeda, Hamas, and Hezbollah. And these movements are intertwined as well with direct training and operations from the former Soviet Union, and from the Chinese Communist Party today. In this special episode of Crossroads, we'll explain this history, and how terrorism is rooted in communism.
