Speculate

Hi all,

Welcome to the first episode of Speculate! The Podcast for Writers, Readers and Fans.  In our inaugural episode, Brad and I look at Issue #18 of Apex Magazine, an issue dedicated to Arabic and/or Islamic-themed fiction and poetry, and discuss three stories in particular: “The Green Book” by Amal El-Mohtar, “50 Fatwas for the Virtuous Vampire” by Pamela K. Taylor, and “The Faithful Soldier, Prompted” by Saladin Ahmed.  If you like what you hear, make sure you check out Episode 2, where we’ll interview the authors themselves–and if you really like what you hear, please spread the word about the show!

Update – 12/30/10 – In this episode, we tried (and clearly failed) to recall when the Elizabeth Moon/WisCon kerfuffle all went down. We blame our inability to remember on first show jitters. For clarity’s sake, we’d like to make it clear that it was shortly after Moon’s blog post on September 11th, 2010.
