Faith, Conviction & Going All In (Feat. Grayson & Scottlyn)
This episode was recorded in the Lean Kitchen kitchen in Lexington, SC right after a long, exhausting & exciting opening day. The audio isn’t perfect, but the message is.
I sit down with Grayson & Scottlyn to talk about early days of business ownership, faith & what it looks like to truly go for it when God puts something on your heart. We dive into the idea of “laying a fleece” - trusting God for clarity & direction - and how Romans 8:28 played a huge role in their decision to open Lean Kitchen.
They share their Yellow Bird Ventures story, which gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. It’s one of those moments where you realize God was working behind the scenes long before you could see it.
This episode is:
Encouraging for couples building something together
A reminder of the power of faith
Sometimes the only thing standing between you and what you want… is you.
In under 10 minutes, I break down why overthinking kills momentum, how fear of failure is often just a vague shadow you’ve never actually examined, and why fear of looking stupid is the worst reason to hold back... especially since none of us are getting out of here alive.
If you’ve calculated the risks, weighed the options, and are still sitting on the fence, this is your nudge.
Do it. Don’t regret it later.
Listen to me share one of my favorite stories— the Parable of the Fisherman— and the powerful lesson it teaches about success, ambition & fulfillment.
As ambitious people, we’re always moving the goalposts, chasing the next milestone, believing that happiness lies in the NEXT achievement. But what if we’re already living the life we think we’re working toward?
What is the balance between ambition and contentment? Not sure I know the answer to that yet...
This episode is a must-listen for anyone who struggles with the "I'll be happy when..." mentality.
In this episode, I break down:
1️⃣ Why conviction is critical—and what happens when you don’t have it.
2️⃣ How to develop conviction—the process of doing the work, challenging your beliefs, and making informed, confident decisions.
3️⃣ The danger of inaction—why hesitation can be just as costly as making the wrong choice.
True conviction isn’t just about making a decision—it’s about earning it. It comes from immersing yourself in the work, stripping away ego, bias, and preconceived notions, and reaching a place of true humility. Only then, with relentless effort and deep focus, can you refine your understanding, master the details, and build unshakable expertise.
Conviction isn’t found—it’s forged.
If you’ve ever struggled with trusting yourself, second-guessing big decisions, or letting outside opinions hold you back, this episode is for you.
🎧 Listen now & start building conviction that can’t be shaken.

How do you think about time?
Are you fully aware of how fast time passes us by?
If you can wrap your head around it, it can shape your entire life by helping you make the most of every moment & appreciate every moment.
Last month, I released my interview with Brian Beers (Ep. 18) who is a franchise consultant and a franchisee himself that specializes in the concept of "rolling up franchises". He's also a podcast host of a show called "Business with Beers" where he interviews entrepreneurs about their journey and insight.
Brian interviewed me a few weeks ago and I thought it would be cool to share the episode here with you.
I share my personal journey of getting in business, experiences, as well as actionable tips and strategies that you can apply in your own life.
I turn 30 today. I normally don't overthink birthdays but with this one being a decade milestone, it hits a little harder & I'm very grateful... That being said, here are 30 lessons I have learned from my first 30 years.

This was a really fun episode to record. Will Grimes is a former marine turned real estate beast & YouTube millionaire who has grown like crazy in the last 5 years. We dive into our longtime friendship & the dynamics of that early on and then Will shares key pieces of his story that has led him to where he is today.
There are so many nuggets from this guy and as the episode goes on, it gets better & better. By the end, I had goosebumps as we talked about Will's paradigm shift after having a son, his strategies to standing out in his industry & our burning desire to help others.
Follow Will on all platforms @Will_Grimes & check out his podcast, "Day One Dollar Zero".
---
Some moments that stood out to me:
10 min: Productive Conflict
27 min: Making the leap from job to self employed
28 min: Saying no when Will asked for a loan
36 min: No huge decisions during those high high's or low low's
42 min: Having a son, paradigm shift & being authentically yourself
56 min: Are you religious? Following the desire that God placed inside us.
This episode has been on my mind for a while. Some people are motivated by material things - some not at all. Some people are motivated by experiences. Some people are minimalist and would tell you they don't need any of that... All are fine.
I dive into all of this while sharing a couple of personal stories with you, talking about being "humble", and at the end, I share a quote that I live by & I think anyone can benefit from. Ultimately, I hope this episode makes you realize that you should pursue whatever equals happiness for YOU - Living someone else's idea of your life is a recipe for misery.
