Is God who You think He is? John 4:24 Jesus tells us to worship God in spirit and in Truth and later on in 8:28 Jesus says that the truth sets us free. We are to worship God, which means the true things about God, but we can get mixed up with our feelings, with good songs, with our past that can distort our view of God. Are we worshiping God in truth or are we believing lies about God? Today we are looking at  attributes of God found in His Word to help us worship the ONE TRUE God.

Is God Who You Think He Is?

God is God and He has attributes that can be known about Him as studied in the Word of God.

Though we can never fully exhaust God or ever comprehend all He is and all He does and will do, He still allows us to know Him.

Attributes of God

First as we study God’s attributes we need to know that there are two main classifications of His attributes.

No. 1  Incommunicable attributes - meaning he does not share these attributes with anyone or anything 

aseity, eternal, omnipresence, immutable, omnipotent,

No. 2 Communicable attributes - meaning God shares these attributes with other beings.

righteous, merciful, good, loving, just, wrathful

Application

Pick an attribute of God and look it up in Scripture.

Study it with your kids or with a small group of women.

After writing down verses ask yourself what does this attribute of God mean for your daily living?
