Continuing on to the next tea session of the month we will be sitting down with my friend Tylana (Ty) Hudson. People this girl is fire, I am so proud of her for being brave and tackling this subject with me. We will be talking about racial reconciliation and some ways that we can open the conversation with ourselves and others and as a plus Ty is an avid reader and shares with us some literature that can open your eyes to the subject! This was such a fun time with Ty as she spilled her tea!
This week I have my little sister joining me on the podcast. Before we start, I want everyone to be prepared that this was not an easy episode to record or listen to. To say that my little sister has street smarts and rough around the edges is an understatement, but that is what I love about her. She isn’t afraid to say what she really feels as long as you truly know her. I couldn’t believe that she was willing to share these things with you. I pray and hope that you give her respect when listening to her vulnerability. My prayer also for us is that if you are part of the church that we hear what brokenness looks like so that we can understand how someone feels. We can open our hearts to see what judgement does to someone. Stories of Jesus accepting those with flaws are numerous in the Bible. I pray you find it in your heart to hear the hurt of people. Julie is in the midst of healing. You will hear part of the podcast where someone enters the conversation. This is Julie’s roommate Kathleen. Kathleen wanted to hear the recording live. She also speaks about someone named Holli. Holli was interviewed on my first season. Go check out her interview to see how life intertwines the best of community. I want to say Julie has a love for Christ and a fierce love for her people this is just an interview where you hear the pains of someone in healing. Now I will stop talking to let you hear Julie, spill the tea.
Today, we have a very special episode with Leigh Kohler. Leigh is the co-founder and Executive Director of Freedom Church Alliance. Freedom Church Alliance exists to engage the Church as a unified, collaborative body to make a greater impact in the anti-human trafficking movement. Leigh sits down to talk to us about the basics of where to start in the awareness of human trafficking. We only tackle a few things on this podcast and I highly suggest you check out Freedom church alliance and how we can use our power as the church body to conquer this issue of human trafficking in our world. I want to start out with a couple of definitions of human trafficking. According to the US Department of State, human trafficking is the act of recruiting, transporting, providing or obtaining a person for compelled labor or commercial sex acts through the use of force, fraud, or coercion. Dictionary Defined- it is organized criminal activity in which human beings are treated as possessions to be controlled and exploited (as by being forced into prostitution or involuntary labor). I hope this episode shows you how relevant Human Trafficking is in our society today and how important it is for us as a body of Christ to ending slavery in our lifetime. The Freedom Church Alliance works with several organizations that we be linking to the show’s social media! Please ask us any questions you might have, I’m sure Leigh and her crew at Freedom Church Alliance would welcome conversation! I look forward to seeing a change in our generation now let’s sit down with Leigh as she spills the tea.
This week I have my friend Tony Bianco. Tony has been such a brother to me in my life. He and his wife Diamend have been such constant friends to me. I also have to say I love their children so much. He is a self-professed nerd and that is just one of the reasons that I love him. Tony is going to walk us through a program that he has started in his career called The Family Technology Plan. His goal is to help families begin talking about technology so they can better control it’s use within the household. I hope that this week you are enlightened by this subject and it sparks conversation with your family and others. Hey there is even a part where we talk about singles and their screen habits. So, get excited as Tony spills the tea.
Let’s shake things up with our first installment of this seasons Tea Party Tuesday! Today I have two of my favorite teenage guys sharing their love for Christ, opinions on dating, and slang interpretations. This was such a fun time to sit down with these guys and hear their heart! So, enjoy Luke Delgadillo and Luke Kohler spill the tea!
Okay people, this week we are conquering fitness. My friend Tiffany Butterfras is a fitness instructor. She has been one of the greatest influences in my life concerning this subject even with the rollercoasters that I go with in it. She always is so encouraging me to get back on the bike metaphorically and physically. She graciously accepted my invite to talk to us a little about the road to fitness and what it looks like to her. We also cover connecting with God using our bodies. Don’t shy away from this episode if you hate the word work out. I hope that you see this as useful information. If anything, stay tuned for a tiny nugget of Tiffany’s son Jude educated everyone on dinosaurs. No ready, get set, let’s spill the tea.
My friend Julie Burnham is joining us all the way from College Station, Texas. Julie and I met when I was a freshman at A&M, as sophomores Julie and her friends took it upon themselves to make sure we found a home in college station. She has an incredible story that she is going to share with us about bravery and how Christ sustained her through taking care of a terminally ill parent. Here’s to all of you falling madly in love with Julie as she spills her tea.
Okay, we’re back… we are spilling tea people. This week I have Shannon Bloodworth spilling the tea on what the Bible means to her and how she stays involved in the word and shares it with others. You will see from this episode how artistic Shannon is from the start. Shannon has been somewhat of a mentor for me during my time in Houston and beyond. You will see why I loved learning from her. She is so excited about Jesus and what he can do for you and in you. She uses her own songs to grow deeper with Christ. I want to show special mention to Shannon’s kiddos who have taken me into their family Emma, Jackson, and Livey (I love you guys) and we can’t forget Craig (Shannon’s husband). You see such a work of ministry when you step into the Bloodworth house. Every episode I’m glad you guys get a glimpse of what it feels for me to have tea with each person. I think this one portrays it in great ways especially as you hear Shannon clinking her tea cup. So, come join us as we sip and spill the tea.
Margeaux shares with us what it is like to share her faith in the world of science.
This week Jered Hudson spills his tea on the joys of ministering to youth!
