Heathens! The Wheel Turns...  

The Wheel of the Year continues to turn for Pagans with the Quarter Sabbat Fall Equinox also known as Mabon.

The high point of the Sun's arc over The Wheel is done and with that completion, we see the fullness of The Harvest come to fruition at this time of year. We have reached Fall Equinox, the Quarter-Day festival marking the half way point between Summer and Winter Solstice.   

Also known as Second Harvest and Witch's Thanksgiving, at Fall Equinox we continue to explore harvest season through the cornucopia of symbols and festivals found at this time of year. The work of Mabon season focuses on shifting from the drive and ambition of Summer into the fulfillment and resolution of Autumn.   

Many Pagans see a form of the Goddess known as The Mother giving birth to the massive harvests being pulled in all around the northern hemisphere. And, we begin to see The Mother rest after this work and begin to reveal the first traces of Her next form: The Crone. 

In this lively 2 hour lecture you’ll learn ways to help yourself and your community shift from the high of Summer into the fall of Fall, and prepare for the Underworld journey of Winter.  

But the work isn't done after one night! We'll take a look at what we can expect for the coming 6-7 weeks of Equinox Season, learn how you can observe this time of abundance for yourself or with your community, and get ready to Do The Work.

This week's 'cast is a shorty because we have our next Mabon class coming up quick! This Moon brings us upheaval in our world events and nebulous encounters in our private lives. Don't get lost in the haze, do allow the parts of you that are hidden to speak. We take a look at The Eleusinian Mysteries and the opportunity to think back on old forms of self. Change is inevitable, what can you harvest from your labor?

Great Goddesses like Yemoja, Oshun, Virgin Mary, Holy Sophia, Artemis, and Themis want us to understand how much we have cultivated in ourselves to be who we are and where we are, in spite of all the wild sh*t this world has thrown at us. We carry great wisdom, talent, strength and capacity, and it's not by accident or chance. We are who we are because we have grown ourselves, like a great verdant garden.

But let's not get it twisted, Mercury stations Retrograde this week and our powers of information gathering and discernment need to be front and center so we don't waste our energy on somebody else's tangled plotlines or silly arguments.

Self-care routines may be the only truth we can rely on, even when we feel like we don't know ourselves.

Stay Sharp, Witches, we still have miles to go before we reach the Holy Mountain. But this week is a great time to look back at how far we have already come.

As we move into the final weeks of Summer, during Virgo season, we can feel a little overblown, spent, hungover from the excess of Summer. A hermitage is just what the soul needs. Getting back to the personal, the daily routine, the simple self-care elements, the personal rituals of life. Also, it’s hard to believe this magical time will end, but the elder in us knows The Wheel Turns, and Summer will end. Begin tending to the body, recalling the self-work like routine that is so needed in Fall and Winter. Work with and thank your community healers and people who hold space for us to have these hermetic moments.

Wow! We have SO MANY harvest festivals this week! But also holy days dedicated to The Ancestors who live underground pushing up what we harvest, the Water deities that support of Harvest, and the Wisdom Keepers that help us protect the harvest. Odin and Virgo are front and center in the deepest symbology of Lughnasadh insistence on maturation and leadership, with all the sacrifice and reward that comes along. Our astrology supports this work too. We are asked to call ourselves out and in on what is no longer working in our methods of acquiring and relating to resources, security, and personal work. And we are given some guidance on the inevitable shift that coming in our energy as The Wheel Turns.
