Spirit of Truth/The Bible on Trial

St. Patrick's Day Snakes~ Today is  the Irish Celebration of St. Patrick driving the snakes out of Ireland. In celebration of this event my wife is going to a modified 'Ladies Night' event at a good friends house where she and seven female friends will eat corned beef and cabbage, drink a little bit of Irish Stout, and eat  homemade Irish Soda bread (provide by me at my wife's request). The reason why we celebrate on March 17 is that the real St. Patrick died on that day in 461 C.E., after a very hard life as a Catholic Priest, taking Christianily to the heathens in Ireland. Not surprising, there were actually no physical snakes in Ireland. So this story of driving Irish snakes into the sea is really a metaphor describing St. Patrick's bringing his beliefs to the Emerald Isle, and driving evil from it's shores. It is interesting that for those that are paying attention there is another process going on in the world that is doing the same thing today as did St. Patrick then, that is driving evil from the world. The Bible is replete with prophecies of the end of time that speak to the process by which the world will be cleansed of evil of the 'snakes' that are the progeny of the Ancient Serpent, the Devil,  and will be driven out by the actions of those that are in the Kingdom of God, that defeat the kingdom of this world, that kingdom that is made of lies and deceit. However, this process of removing the snakes of this world is not easy, because it requires everyone that is on the side of good to be in the Kingdom of God. This is the process that Jesus brought to this earth, and spoke to His own eyewitness disciples. False words have been substituted for the Words of Truth, and lies have become the hallmark of those that believe they are saved, but are not. So when you celebrate today, celebrate the victory that is soon to come upon the world through the words of Truth!

On the Road Again~ As per the writing of yesterday, my wife and I are just about to 'head for the hills' and go to our family gathering with my twin sister and her family in Ventura Ca. for our birthday. All persons scheduled to be there will be there (Halleluia!) and we are going to have a memorable time. I will be on air via phone to give the introductions, and Rick is 'on deck' from his house to handle the tech, and give what I know will be a brilliant study.  Join Spirit of Truth Ministry today, March 11, 2023 at 10AM PT, for our program The Revelation of Jesus with Rick Sterling, on: blogtalkradio.com/sot.

Birthdays~ Tomorrow is my twin sister's birthday, and the my immediate family (her's and mine) are gathering at her home up the coast, about 2 1/2 hours from my house for a celebration; includesd in the festivities are her husband, her three adult children, her eldest daughter's fiance, my wife, my daughter, her husband, my grandson, and my son. This is a wonderful event, tempered by the fact that my twin was told about 6 months ago that she has early onset Alzheimer's. She is experiencing mild symptoms (so far), and is undergoing treatment. This is disturbing to the family, as well it should be, but as a family we are nothing but adaptable in dealing with these kinds of tests.  Birthday's under whatever circumstances are and important recognition of not only the person that was born, but the mother that did the birthing. and in not only a joy in the temporal world but also in the spiritual world. Jesus spoke of the importance of being 'born from above', commonly misinterpreted by the Christian church using the phrase 'born again'. Jesus did say. "Unless you are born of the water and the Spirit you cannot enter the Kingdom of God" (John 3:5). Jesus prefaced this statement by saying that, "Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John3:3). So here is the issue - in order to be saved you must be in the Kingdom of God; before this can happen you must be able to 'see' the Kingdom that you want to enter; in order to 'see' you must be 'born of the water', which are the Words of God brought to earth by the Son of God, and the 'Spirit', which is the Mother, that is called the Holy Spirit, that will lead you into all truth (John 16:13). So there it is; In order to be born into the Kingdom (not adopted), you must KNOW THE TRUTH. What Truth? The truth about how to enter the Kingdom, your true birthday!

"If it's broke, fix it"~ There is an expression that has been in common use in my parents generation, and it is; "If it's not broke, don't fix it!"  This saying alludes to the fact that with all the new technology that appeared during and right after World War 2 the old tried and true ways of doing things were giving way from taking the time to learning and doing things the way your parents and grandparents did things, slow, and with great patience, to needing to get it done 'right now', the faster the better. Even if the job, project  or product ended up being  just 'good enough' rather than perfect, that was OK. Faster was better. The corrollary saying that came after this generation could have been, "If it's broke, don't fix it, just buy a new one"! Manufactured products from both America and from overseas (particularly from Japan) became so cheap that to (say for instance) take your broken toaster to the repair shop and have it fixed, gave way to throwing the old one away and buying a new one. Everyone new the new one was not as good as the old one, but it was so 'cheap' that when it broke you would just do the same thing over again, ad infinitum. In a spiritual sense we are seeing this same saying applied to the modern Christian church, as carried on from past generations, because NO ONE realized that the belief that salvation as a function of faith through grace was a broken concept that needed fixing. The motto "If it's not broke, don't fix it" is predicated on the belief that salvation is already perfect and needs no alteration to work correctly. The realization that the Pauline concepts of salvation are irreparably broken, and need to be replaced is the first step in finding the salvation found in the 'gospel of the Kingdom', seen only in the words of Jesus, given to His eyewitness disciples.

Make up your mind, already! Have you every been to a restaurant with someone that just couldn't make up their mind? We all have experienced this situation at least once in our lives, and it is very frustrating. You can see them looking at the menu, maybe muttering under their breath, or even talking outloud about their being too many choices, and that it is just too difficult for them to make up their mind. I mean, it's not like this is a 'life or death' situation. But it could almost be for live or for death, the way that  they vacillate back and forth between items. Little do they understand that they truly are in a state where soon they will have to make a Life or Death decision, they will only have two choices; Truth, or that which they believe to be true, but isn't. Being willing and able to believe a lie as if it is the Truth makes it nearly impossible to see facts AS truth. Many people WANT to believe what they already believe, because they 'feel' safe in doing this. But feeling safe is totally different than 'being' safe. Facts are seen as the enemy of Truth, because fact are hard, and unyielding things, and make it difficult to believe what your heart is telling you it true. Those that are unwilling to look facts and evidence squarely in the eye and see them for what they are, can not, and will not ever find true salvation and eternal life, because they believe words that do ot come from the source for all truth, the words that Jesus brought from the Father, and geve to His OWN eyewitness disciples while He was here on earth.

Coincidence, Or Not~ It's easy enough to smile when the world goes along like a song, but the one that's worthwhile is the one that can smile,  When everything goes dead wrong~ This little poem is a modified snippet of a poem by Ella Wheeler Wilcox called WORTH WHILE, that my mother learned from her mother, and has made a big difference the the texture of my life. I have learned that because of who God is, and what They do, there is no such thing as coincidence. God always has a plan, however, He may not reveal the details of that plan to us right away. For example; years ago I lost a very important receipt for an investment that I had made. It wasn't a lot of money, but the culmination of that investment is getting close, and I had resigned myself to loosing out on the proceeds of that investment because I had misplaced proof of my ownership.  Yesterday, my cat Sparky caught a bird, and brought it into the house to show us her victory. It was alive, and in trying to pick up the cat and take her outside with the bird in her mouth, she (of course) dropped it, and it scooted away to hide. This promoted a search that involved moving furniture, and as a result I worked for hours cleaning the floors in the living room. My wife decided to clean a drawer in a small table near our front door, so that she could give it to our son the next time he came for a visiit. In cleaning out the drawed she discovered that some papers and other stuif had gone over the back of the drawer into a space under the drawer, preventing the drawer from closing. She asked me to open the underside of the drawer space to get this material out. One of the things that came out was a returned letter from nearly 20 years ago that had a copy of my receipt in it.  We are coming into a time when the plans and prophecies of God will be revealed. Coincidence? I think not!
