A hellhound is a mythological hound are guardians or servant of the devil. 

Hellhounds occur in mythologies around the world, with the best-known examples being Cerberus from Greek mythology, Norse mythology to English folklore. 

Physical characteristics vary, but usually they are black, unnaturally large and strong, and often with glowing red eyes or accompanying flames.
