Have you ever found that a prayer practice that once brought you peace and connection with God no longer seems to work? You might feel frustrated, disconnected, or even wonder if God has left you on your own.
In this episode of Spiritual Practices for the Soul, I explore why our spiritual practices sometimes stop nourishing us and how changes in our lives, responsibilities, and daily rhythms can affect our prayer life. Drawing from my own experience, I reflect on how we move through different seasons ~ some full of joy and growth, others marked by dryness and difficulty ~ and why we can trust that these seasons will change.
Together, we’ll explore gentle questions to help you recognize the season you’re in, discover what might nourish your soul right now, and find small ways to reconnect with God’s presence. You don’t have to force an old routine to work or feel discouraged when your spiritual life changes. Sometimes, the invitation is simply to make room for a new rhythm.
“God accompanies us in those dry times, whether we know it or not.”
If you’re feeling spiritually disconnected or longing to feel God’s presence again, I hope this episode reminds you to offer yourself grace, trust the season you’re in, and remain open to the restorative practices that may be waiting for you.

Do you ever feel so overwhelmed that you struggle to find the words to pray, or even to quiet your mind?
In this episode of Spiritual Practices for the Soul, I explore the practice of Centering Prayer, a contemplative way of connecting with God through stillness and silence. Drawing on insights from our time exploring this practice in my membership community, I share how Centering Prayer can help us let go of distracting thoughts, find calm amid the chaos, and become more aware of God’s presence in our everyday lives.
Together, we’ll explore how this simple practice works, why returning to a sacred word can help us refocus when our minds wander, and how even a few minutes of prayer can offer restoration and grounding. You don’t need to get it perfect or set aside 20 minutes every day. You can begin with just two or five minutes and discover whether this practice speaks to you.
“Centering prayer helps us become grounded in what is most important.”
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, spiritually weary, or unsure how to connect with God in this season, I hope this episode offers you a gentle invitation to pause, let go, and return to the divine presence already with you.

Are you going through a season of change and finding it difficult to feel grounded?
In this episode of Spiritual Practices for the Soul, I share three simple spiritual practices that have helped me stay centered through a season of major transition. These practices have become steady anchors in my life, helping me process what is happening beneath the surface, step away from the clutter of everyday life, and reconnect with joy and a deeper sense of who I am.
We’ll explore how ordinary activities can become spiritual practices when we bring our full attention to them and remember that we are accompanied by God’s presence. Whether you’re starting a new job, moving to a new place, adjusting to a new routine, or simply navigating an unfamiliar chapter, these practices can offer moments of perspective, resilience, and grounding.
“We remember that we are beloved, that we don’t travel alone into what’s ahead.”
Whatever transition you’re facing, I hope this episode reminds you that you don’t have to navigate it alone. God walks with you into every new place, every new season, and every new chapter.

Do you struggle to stay consistent in your prayer life? You are not alone.
In this episode of Spiritual Practices for the Soul, I explore why creating a consistent prayer life can be so difficult, especially when our schedules, responsibilities, energy, and seasons of life are always changing. Instead of striving for a rigid routine, I share three simple ways to develop a more sustainable rhythm: connecting prayer to something you already do each day, weaving prayer into activities that bring you joy and make you feel alive, and giving yourself permission to be flexible when life doesn’t go according to plan.
Most of all, we’ll consider a different understanding of consistency ~ one rooted not in perfection or pressure, but in trusting that God’s presence is always there, even when our own rhythms change.
“God is consistent, even when we can’t be consistent.”
If you’ve been struggling with an inconsistent prayer life, I hope this episode offers you a little freedom and a lot of grace. You don’t have to get everything right. You can begin again, right where you are, and rest in the God who is always with you.

What would it look like to build a spiritual rhythm that truly fits your life right now?
In this episode of Spiritual Practices for the Soul, I bring together the seven spiritual practices we’ve been exploring ~ stillness, tending, movement, beauty, word, nourishment, and connection ~ and share how they can become part of a resilient rhythm of life.
We’ll reflect on what you’re holding, what you may need to let go of, and what your soul is longing for more of. I’ll also share a simple way to map restorative practices across your daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, and annual rhythms so that caring for your spiritual life becomes something woven into everyday life, rather than something you only return to when you finally have time.
“We listen for what brings us joy, strength, and hope. As we lean into that, those are the practices that will be restorative to us.”
I hope this episode encourages you to create a rhythm that feels gentle, realistic, and life-giving ~ one that makes space for what restores you and helps you stay connected to God in the season you’re in now.

What if some of the responsibilities that feel like burdens could also become opportunities for connection?
In this episode of Spiritual Practices for the Soul, I explore connection, the seventh spiritual practice in my framework, and how it brings so many spiritual practices together. I share my own experience of spending hours driving my teenage children to practices and activities, and how something I often experienced as tiring and frustrating began to feel different when I saw those hours as precious opportunities for connection.
We’ll reflect on how the ordinary responsibilities of caring for others can become part of our spiritual lives, helping us cultivate gratitude and become more aware of God’s presence in everyday moments. I also explore the importance of the people and communities who bring us back to ourselves and remind us that we don’t have to move through life alone.
“It reminds us that we aren’t going through this life on our own, but that we have companions on the journey.”
I hope this episode invites you to consider where connection is already present in your life, and how even the most ordinary moments with the people around you can become places of belonging, gratitude, and divine presence.

Have you ever eaten a simple meal that somehow nourished much more than your body?
In this episode of Spiritual Practices for the Soul, I reflect on our family’s first home-cooked meal after a long road trip. It was a familiar family recipe, simple and ordinary, yet sitting around the table together brought a deep sense of comfort, gratitude, and a sense of home.
We’ll explore nourishment as a spiritual practice and consider how preparing food, eating mindfully, and sharing a table with others can become opportunities to notice God’s presence in everyday life. When we slow down and pay attention, even chopping vegetables, sharing a favorite recipe, or gathering around the dinner table can become an act of gratitude, hospitality, and an act of prayer.
“To nourish our bodies is also to nourish our spirits and our souls.”
I hope this episode invites you to see the meals already woven into your day a little differently ~ to receive nourishment as a gift, to care for your body with gratitude, and to allow your table to become a place of connection, warmth, and belonging.

Have you ever found yourself stuck in a journaling routine that no longer feels life-giving?
In this episode of Spiritual Practices for the Soul, I reflect on my lifelong love of journaling and how trying a different approach has brought fresh insight during a season of transition. Through guided prompts, thoughtful reading, and open-hearted reflection, I’ve discovered that sometimes a small change in our spiritual rhythms can awaken new awareness of God’s presence in our lives.
Together, we’ll explore the spiritual practice of Word ~ the gift of both reading and writing ~ as a way to nourish our inner lives, deepen our curiosity, and connect more compassionately with the stories of others. I’ll also encourage you to step outside your usual habits, whether by trying a new journaling practice or picking up a book you wouldn’t normally choose, trusting that God can meet you in unexpected places.
“Reading lifts us out of ourselves. It connects us with the rest of the world, makes us more aware, and prompts a curiosity about other people’s lives and experiences.”
If your soul has been longing for a fresh perspective, I hope this episode inspires you to embrace a new rhythm of reading and writing ~ one that opens your heart to God’s presence within you and in the beautiful, wide world around you.

What if noticing beauty isn’t an extra, but an essential part of caring for your soul?
In this episode of Spiritual Practices for the Soul, I reflect on how living on the north coast of Ireland taught me to notice beauty in every season, from windswept beaches and star-filled skies to the quiet creativity woven into everyday life. Along the way, I discovered that paying attention to beauty isn’t simply enjoyable ~ it is a spiritual practice that nurtures resilience, restores our well-being, and deepens our awareness of God’s presence.
Together, we’ll explore how beauty can be found not only in the natural world, but also in music, art, creativity, and the simple moments that often go unnoticed. I’ll also invite you to embrace a small daily practice of noticing or creating beauty, trusting that these ordinary moments can become acts of prayer that reconnect us with the Creator.
“It is not a luxury, it is something that is fundamental to who we are as people created in the image of God, the Creator.”
If you’ve been longing to slow down and experience God’s presence in fresh ways, I hope this episode encourages you to open your eyes to the beauty already surrounding you—and discover how even the smallest moments of wonder can restore your soul.

Have you ever felt frustrated because sitting still to pray just isn't working for you?
In this episode of Spiritual Practices for the Soul, I want to offer you permission to let go of the idea that prayer has to look a certain way. Whether you're in a busy season of life, carrying anxiety, or simply find it difficult to sit in silence, movement can become a beautiful pathway into God's presence.
I'll share a personal story of how prayer on a yoga mat helped me release fear and anxiety during a season of major life decisions, along with other movement-based practices that have nourished my soul ~ from daily walks and labyrinths to pilgrimage and simple movements woven into worship. Together, we'll explore how our bodies can become companions in prayer, helping us become more grounded, attentive, and aware of God's presence throughout the day.
"I invite you to consider what are the ways that movement can help you to become more aware of God with you and can enhance that connection that you have with God."
If you've ever believed you weren't "doing prayer right," I hope this episode encourages you to discover that God meets us not only in stillness, but also as we move through the ordinary rhythms of our lives.
