  • The Son of Man is the King of Kings

    Pastor Andrew preaches on: The nations of this world seem so powerful in their raging

    and warring, like terrifying beasts devouring everything in reach. This is exactly the
    picture Daniel describes in chapter seven of his book, but in the midst of the terror
    and chaos, God acts. He establishes His throne, He destroys the most terrifying of
    the beasts, and He gives His own power and dominion to one like a son of man,
    promising that this one's kingdom will last forever. Thank God, that we are baptized
    into the Son of man and that He is both our loving Savior and King of Kings.

  • “Proclamation of a Permanent Promise”:The First Sunday in Advent

    Pastor Michael's Take-away: Advent is a season of the church year when we think of time:

    1) God’s ancient promises of salvation;

    2) Christ fulfilling those promises at the proper time; and

    3) His future return to take His people into the full experience of eternal life. We may sometimes feel like prisoners of time, which stops for no one.

    But as we look at the history of salvation—past, present, and future—we see our Christian hope and the meaning that hope gives to our existence in time.

  • Christ the King Sunday: “Good News of Peace”

    Pastor Andrew preaches this week’s takeaway: We look around and see war, oppression, hatred, mistrust, and terror. Unrest and violence is happening all over the world and division and fear run the show right here in our nation. Jesus tells his disciples (and us) in Mark 13, "When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed." Jesus proclaims to us that Good News of peace that Nahum prophesied 700 years before; Good News that is still ours 2000 years later just as it will be forever. Christ is King, evil has lost, life is ours, it is finished. Peace be with you!

  • Endurance in Afflictions: 26th Sunday after Pentecost

    Pastor Andrew preaches this week’s takeaway: "The one who endures to the end will be saved" (Mark 13:13b). This verse has always unsettled me, especially as it is preceded by "You

    will be hated by all for my name's sake" (Mark 13:13a). It is not the lightheartedsunshine and flowers Christianity that many proclaim. Jesus is telling us that the lives of His people are very serious affairs. That we will be subject to great and terrible afflictions, both external and internal. Endurance is the name of the game...enduring to the end IN FAITH. That view of our lives would focus us to one priority: Receiving Jesus' gifts to sustain us in faith to the end.

  • “In the Know”: 25th Sunday after Pentecost

    Pastor Michael with this week’s takeaway: The Ten Commandments are more than mere rules. These are our Maker’s design for life in the world. Acting contrary to this design hurts ourselves and others. While all fall short of God’s expectations (Romans 3:23), in Christ we are new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17). How are you displaying this new life in your choices and relationships?

God cuts through political instability and uncertainty, national pride, and international conflicts with a promise: “The kingdom shall be the LORD’s” (Obadiah 21).     great! We want success, right? But is the success we chase after and desire "good"? Everyone strives for success, but so much of that success only leads to discontent, emptiness, and isolation...because it is not good success. The only good success comes from God's grace and in adherence to His will by His Word. Abiding in that Word and in Christ's life, we can and will be courageous in our vocations and Jesus' good success will be ours now and forever.
