Iowa Governor says the state is recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic and now it’s time to focus on the economic future. She held her final televised news conference on Thursday. Siouxland Public Media’s Sheila Brummer shares the highlights. Governor Reynolds says a Test Iowa site will open at the Dickinson County Fairgrounds in Spirit Lake on Monday.

The Winnebago Public Health Department reported on Thursday two people have died due to COVID-19 for a total of three deaths on the Winnebago Reservation. Sixty-six have tested positive with 50 recovered from the disease. There are two more deaths in the Sioux City metro area. One in Dakota County, and an older woman between the ages of 61 and 80 in Woodbury County. Forty-two people have died in Woodbury County and 33 in Dakota County for a total of 75. There were 11 new cases in Woodbury County

Health departments in the Sioux City metro report very few new cases of COVID-19. There were no deaths. The current total for Woodbury and Dakota Counties is 73. Woodbury saw two additional positive cases, for more than 3,000 in all. Dakota Count y recorded one more for more than 1,700. Union County recorded 113 positive cases. Nine more deaths have been reported due to complications of COVID-19 in the state of Iowa. A total of 670 have died during the pandemic. 350 are residents of long-term care facilities. There are outbreaks currently at 35 facilities including four in Siouxland. Two are in Buena Vista County. The Iowa Department of Public Health also reported three cases at Pleasant View Home in Albert City and Good Samaritan Society-Newell.
