Meanwhile, whatever is going on in Fillory is a goddamn nightmare and I hate it.

I keep being surprised by how quickly these books move along, and I'm really here for the whole coup that Sturmhond executes. It was a total shock how abruptly everything went left, and I'm even more shocked at the fact that, by the end of this section, we've not only escaped from the Darkling (for now) but also gotten the second amplifier! Well that was fast!
But I will say that the one thing I'm super unhappy about is Mal. I don't know what his problem is, and I honestly don't really care. I thought he would be more supportive and it turns out that he's already kind of afraid of her, which like...really? Get over it, dude. Fuck.

Things seem to be going pretty badly and I'm hopeful that this new job he ends up with actually works out because I want stuff to be better for him? I'm weirdly invested in what happens to Weevil, okay?
Meanwhile, I'm starting to be done with Logan and I feel like Veronica should move on with her life. I don't really know what she sees in him at this point? However, I am sort of on board with her and the dean seeming to strike an understanding. I hope they work together in future.

These two episodes are the last of the doubled-up episodes of Gravity Falls, which makes sense because they're sort of the last of the one-off lighter stories before the season begins to wind to a close. The Last Mabelcorn is a hilarious and frustrating jaunt into high fantasy, and Roadside Attraction is partially about fucking up Stan's competition, and partially about Dipper figuring out how to interact with girls. They are both a ton of fun and really good examples of what I will miss when it's time to say goodbye to this show.

However, I may just be feeling this way due to recovering some ground from The Creature In The Case.
