These chapters are when Nona starts to meet other classmates and starts on her studies of both academics and combat. She makes friends easily enough, but she's so aware that being too good at anything is seen as a threat that she keeps sabotaging herself. This combined with her humble origins make the other sisters look towards the new Princess as the "chosen one" and I suspect that Nona (if she were aware) would just see that as a relief.

It's almost time to say goodbye to these characters, and I really don't want to do it. This book has been so much fun and I kind of want there to be an ongoing series with these characters and their hijinks. Because, boy, do they get up to hijinks.

These chapters are mostly about Tacroy being captured and the revelation (FINALLY) that Christopher has about his involvement with the Wraith and the illegal smuggling. Shockingly, though, Tacroy manages to cover for Christopher and lies his butt off. Meanwhile, the Goddess's kitten is adorable and I want one.

I find it strange that this is only just being mentioned, considering how huge that is and that the consumption of the wellspring is kind of old news, but whatever.
Meanwhile, we find out that Elliot has a dirty little secret that could mean the welfare of his people is finally insured whether magic returns or not.

So I had had some trouble with following the story in previous chapters, but this one was a lot easier for me. The whole chapter jumps back and forth between Dandelion past and present, as he tracks down the Witcher and tells him about all that has been going on in the land since he was injured.
What it boils down to is that there's a ton of war, and betrayal, and various alliances being made and broken. There are some areas that had no choice but to bow to Nilfgaard, and there are some that did it willingly, but Nilfgaard is winning either way.

Then Lirael goes on an interesting expedition as an otter that results in her discovering a mysterious door labeled "Lirael's Path" and she follows it...but not without considerable encouragement from the Dog, who is making me pretty suspicious.
