It's Infinity War week! The most anticipated comic book movie of all time releases this week and we have a triple threat of Avengers themed episodes for you! First up is our deep dive overview (it's a thing, just go with it) of the comics "Infinity Gauntlet", "Infinity War", and "Infinity Crusade". We walk you through each story and why the movie will be different.
We also go through each confirmed character from the movie, give you the actor who is playing the character, their first appearance in the comics and the movies AND tell you who the creators responsible are for each one. It's a pretty nerdy episode, but damn was it fun!
Below you can see the notes Johnny took to make this episode happen!
Thanos - Created by Jim Stalin in Iron Man #55 (2/73) as a villain for Captain Marvel
Infinity Gauntlet comic synopsis:
Infinity Gauntlet - 1991 Mini series
Written by Jim Starlin (creator of Thanos)
Penciled by George Perez (first 4 issues) and Ron Lim (last 2)
Build up was Starlin's original Thanos stories with the Infinity Gems.
Starlin came back on silver Surfer #34 in 1990 and over the next 16 issues and the 2 issue "Thanos Quest" this leads into the "Infinity Gauntlet" storyline.
"Infinity Gauntlet" starts with Thanos having all 6 gems which makes him godlike. His goal is to win the affection of Mistress Death. To impress her he uses the gauntlet to kill half of the population of the universe.
Adam Warlock leads who is left in a fight to take out Thanos.
Nebula steals the gauntlet, but is also taken out by Adam Warlock and the remaining Heroes.
Warlock uses the Gauntlet to restore the damage done by Thanos.Infinity War - 1992 mini Series
Written by Jim Starlin
Art by Ron Lim
Adam Warlock has the Gauntlet and expels all the good and evil out of himself to become a logical being.
This creates an evil persona of Adam in Magus, who has similar desires as Thanos.
Adam Warlock is brought before a just of cosmic powers and surrenders his godlike powers when found guilty.
Magus collects 5 cosmic cubes, creates evil mirror images of Earth's superheroes.
Thanos learns of this and warns Warlock.
Galactus and several Earth heroes attempt to revive Eternity so they can petition the living tribunal, who decreed the infinity gems could no longer be used together. (thanks Thanos)
Magus attacks Earth, the heroes think Magus ant Thanos are working together.
Eternity gets revived, convinces the Living Tribunal to reactivate the gems.
Magus defeats Doom (who defeated Kang) and dissolves Quasar
Thanos defeats his doppelganger to distract Magus, this allows Warlock to get the Gauntlet.
Warlock unleashes the opposite of Eternity, his twin brother, Infinity.
Infinity incapacitates Magus, allowing Warlock to absorb him into the Soul Gem. (this puts Warlock in a coma)
Thanos tells the earth heroes Magus was tricked and was never omnipotent because the Reality Gem on the gauntlet was a fake and he had it all along.
Ends with Warlock's "good" persona "Goddess" stealing the cosmic cubes.
Eternity (deputized by the living tribunal) decrees the gems can never be used together again, regardless of the reason.Infinity Crusade - 1993 mini series

Goddess creates a planet called "Paradise Omega" with the egg
Goddess kidnaps and brainwashes many of the earths heroes
Heroes that are susceptible, i.e. religious, mystically inclined, or have had a near death experience. The heroes are led by Moondragon to protect Goddess.
Mr Fantastic, Vision and Iron man investigate the missing heroes.
They talk with Prof. X after they are attacked, who attempts to speak with Moondragon telepathically. This puts him in a coma
Thanos is Goddess's first target to take out "all evil in the universe"
Adam Warlock saves Thanos.
Mephisto offers his knowledge of Goddess to Thanos and Warlock in exchange for a cosmic cube
Thanos and Warlock gather earth's heroes to take out Goddess, includie Silver Surfer who has switched sides.
Surfer destroys Paradise Omega's defense, allowing them to land and start battle.
Thanos (armied with telepathic powers from the comatose Prof. X) attacks Goddess the moment she starts her plan.
Goddess decides that as long as there is sentient life there will be evil, so she uses the Egg to rewrite existence without sentient life.
This is only an illusion created by Warlock, which releases her army fromt heir spell as they see her true goal.
Goddess is attacked by Thanos, Warlock and Prof X, attacking her on the spiritual plane and she is absorbed into the Soul Gem.
Heroes go home and everything is undone by the Cosmic Egg
Thanos orders it destroyed to ensure it's power could never be used again.
Thanos takes a cosmic cube to give to Mephisto and then destroys Paradise Omega.
Mephisto get's the cube, but it doesn’t work. He didn't say it had to work.Character
