The Houses, the nobles families of The Starlands, are the center of the groups in Spoils of War. Everybody is based in a family, but everybody has relations to and know of the other houses. This is the public descriptions; what everybody knows about each house.
The timeline especially the last 20 years provides an overview of the most important events. Especially the current war is thoroughly explained. Specific battles and tournaments are placed in relation to each other.
The history of The Starlands is complicated and messy, just like the medieval European history that the setting is partially inspired by. This run down contains a lot of name dropping, so it’s recommended to be looking at the map of The Starlands the first time, you listen to this episode.
The religion of "The Faith of Life" is essential to understand the setting of Spoils of War. It"s a dualistic religion circling around "Life" and "Death". The life priests “Quasitors” and the death priests “Mortans” are essential for judicial processes. This episode also provides a description of “The Woodlanders”; A different culture of people, with whom there has been and still is great squabbles.
The setting for Spoils of War is homemade, so this is a "tour de force" that runs through everything from how daily life is, how the "low fantasy"-part of the game works and the special case of "Fertility".
Spoils of War is an international larp (live action role play) by Katrine Wind. It will run in Denmark during the summer of 2020. This episode contains a status of the political situation in the beginning of the game, a dictionary of the homemade setting and an overview of salutation - how the players will politely greet each other. All of this is also available in text and will be workshopped before the game as well.
