Eric Dwinnells is back (on two legs!) to tell you about the Mystery of Room 214! (spoiler alert: this is also known as the vanishing hotel room). In Paris, France in 1889, two English women (a mother and a daughter) book a room in a hotel. The mother becomes quite ill with an unknown sickness. The hotel doctor is called and what happens next is...well, we don't want to give too much away.

This urban legend causes us to look for its roots. If it's not a true story then why was it made up and why does it get repeated over and over for generations? Does it contain messages about how to deal with foreigners, how businesses will kill you to save a buck, or what to do about illness?

Host Eric Dwinnells is shocked and excited to be able to report that police have made an arrest in the Golden State killer aka Original Night Stalker aka East Area Rapist case! The man they have arrested is Joseph James Deangelo, a 72 year-old former cop. So far he has been charged with 8 murders and more are expected. Police say DNA links him to 12 murders and at least 50 rapes through California.

Eric has been following this case since the early 2000's and was so excited by the big news...but he had no one in his personal life who was also following the case that he could talk to about it! So he turns to YOU, the listener, to tell you what he knows, what he's heard, and what he speculates about the case. This episode is NOT an in-depth description of the case, just an overview and a review of what we know about suspect Deangelo so far. This is breaking news so take it all with a grain of salt, but there is no doubt this in an incredible unfolding story!!!

It's one of Japan's greatest unsolved mysteries: in the 1980's, a person or persons referring to themselves as The Monster with 21 Faces began to terrorize Japanese food companies. First, they kidnaped the CEO if Glico, then they performed acts of arson, and finally they sent threatening letters stating that they would add poison to Gilco's products. And Glico wasn't the only company targeted. 

To this day no one is sure who or what the Monster with 21 Faces was. The one suspect, the cunning and mysterious "fox-eyed man" remains at large. So who could it have been and why did they do it? Let's speculate on tonight's Spooky A S!

Tonight Eric Dwinnells is diving into the magical world of Wizards...only to find the pool is rather shallow! Truth is, he didn't find all that much about the western idea of a wizard: the long-beared old man in the flowing robes and pointed hat just doesn't really seem to be much of a thing outside Lord of the Rings and King Arthur legends. So where did the western idea of the wizard come from? Join Eric as he tries to trace the roots of this well known and well loved fantasy character.

We'll also briefly discuss the various legends of the most famous wizard of all, Merlin!...Although I suppose Harry Potter may be more popular than poor old half demon Merlin these days. Speaking of Harry Potter, we'll also discuss the "truth" behind The Philosopher's Stone (aka The Sorcerer's Stone) and the strange soap opera starring Rudolph the Second, Dr. John Dee and Mr. Edward Kelly.

All this plus a big announcement about a frequent guest cohost and why Eric thinks "Look" is a perfectly good girls name.

Eric Dwinnells has already discussed the alleged use of back masking on Led Zeppelin's mega hit, Stairway to Heaven (ep 4), but tonight he's going to dig deeper into the allegations that Led Zeppelin is, in fact, a satanic band. He'll discuss the legend of the band signing a deal with the devil in a tool shed and why John Paul Jones may be the only member to escape the wrath of Hell. We'll also look at Jimmy Page's so-called obsession with the occult in general and The Beast, Aleistar Crowley, specifically. And just what do those symbols on Led Zeppelin IV mean anyway.

First he'll talk with long absent Tom Cole about why he's been away from the show for so long. Then, the two will discuss an major update to an episode that aired last year about Unsolved Mysteries...we don't want to give anything away here, but it seems Eric may have gotten himself directly involved in an unsolved mystery!

Then it's time for the main event!!! Eric welcomes back former/frequent guests Emily Ferguson, Brian Toney and the very quiet Fatima Elmi as they watch and discuss The Deception of a Generation, an 80's anti cartoons, toys, and cereal propaganda video! Yes, it seems in the 1980's Satan decided to jump in the toy box and turn the children of the USA into gay occult killing machines!!!

If you grew up in the 80's you're going to want to hear this. Did you know you were brainwashed and conditioned to think there was nothing wrong with talking to demons and necromancy? Did you know that He-Man is a match for Jesus both physically and magically? Did you know the Care Bears were attempting to start their own religion? E.T. was a homosexual who wanted you to accept him as Jesus? Did you know the Smurfs are actually transexual corpse witches?!?!

I promise, we are not making this up. All these outlandish claims and many, many more are actually presented in Deception of a Generation. It is both hilarious and terrifying and a perfect choice for the supersize 100th episode of Spooky A S!!!

Tonight host Eric Dwinnells welcomes back Judith Kalaora to discuss The Immortal Man of malden Massachusetts, Ephraim Grey! But there is a problem...Eric tried to research Ephraim Grey online and found very little evidence that he ever lived at all, let alone lived forever. But Judith, who was used to work for a Boston ghost tour company as notes from a training she was given with very specific names and dates relating to the tale. Could it be that someone has done deep research on Mr. Grey and just never thought to publish it anywhere or is it possible that a tour company who's job it is to tell spooky stories might have added a few details for dramatic effect? You decide.

Ephraim Grey was (allegedly) a 19th century mad scientist/doctor who was trying to find the secret to eternal life. Apparently it didn't work because his "manservant" reported his death to police but said his master wanted no inquest or autopsy performed! Years later, when teenagers searched Ephraim's (alleged) tomb, Ephraim was there and looked very much alive! When they came back for a second look...he was gone!  Some say he still wanders the town by night. Others say the whole story is B.S.

We'll also discuss Judith and Eric's similar odd jobs and their VERY different views on ghost and the afterlife!

Eric Dwinnells and guest cohost Brian Toney are discussing the 1895 murders known as The Demon of the Belfry. Two young women disappear after being seen entering a church and suspicion immediately falls upon Theodore Durrant, the church's assistant superintendent of Sunday school. Why? Because he was the last person seen with both women and there were some unconfirmed rumors about how he liked to spend alone time in the church library and his unusual relationships with chicken. Spoiler alert: he totally did it.

But wait! There is a sequel to this story. Durrant's sister, who had changed her name to Maud Allan in an effort to distance herself from her notorious brother, become a figure of controversy as well. She was accused of being a German spy during WWI. Also, a Brittish magazine accused her of attempting to turn the men of England gay via he performance of Oscar Wilde's Solome.

Eric and Emily were hoping to hear salacious details about what the antichrist would be like and what he would do...instead they got a video full of the most boring xenophobia ever recorded. Tonight you'll learn why these fundamentalist christians believed the world would end "within this generation", why peace and unity is actually a bad thing, how muslims will take over most of the world and why we should still be afraid of Russia.
