Meet Coach John
Born and raised in the Netherlands, John Welsch arrived in the United States at age 18 to study and play soccer at North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. John was a two-time All-American and a four-time All-Midwest player at NTSU, in those days a perennial power-house in college soccer.
After being selected to play in the 1980 College Senior Bowl, he was then drafted by the Chicago Sting of the North American Soccer League and played in Chicago during the 1980-81 indoor season before returning to the Dallas area to play for the Dallas Americans of the American Soccer League until 1984.
Following his professional soccer career, John was hired as the first head coach for FC Boulder in 1989. With the help of some amazing coaches and staff members, he transformed FC Boulder into one of the top clubs in Colorado. His 28 years with FC Boulder made him the longest running Director of Coaching in Colorado and under his guidance, Boulder has become a hotbed for soccer.
As of 2021, John has coached more players who have succeeded at the high school varsity level than any other coach in the North Metro/Boulder County area. Over 200 of John’s former players have gone on to play collegiate soccer including NSCAA All-Americans, NCAA National Champions and All-Conference players. John has coached players that have gone on to play professional soccer as well as players who have gone on to coach at the professional, collegiate and high school levels.
Besides coaching at the club level, John served as head coach for Boulder High School in the 1990s, assistant coach for the University of Colorado Women’s team and a Colorado Olympic Development Program staff coach. As the first USSF "A" licensed coach in the area, John has conducted coaching certification courses for many Colorado youth coaches. He currently organizes the annual Colorado Soccer Coaching Symposium, bringing some of the top coaches in the United States to Boulder each winter.
John departed FC Boulder for Boulder County Soccer Club in 2017, seeking to help build an alternative to what he saw as an increasingly “big business” approach to youth soccer. During his four years at BCSC, the club made great strides, culminating in the Fairview boys high school team winning the Colorado 5A state championship, with 8-of-the-11 starters coming from the BCSC program.
John believes that mindful coaching, inclusive programming and a commitment to excellence is the pathway to success in soccer and that quality soccer experiences should be available to players and families of all backgrounds.
THIS IS A MUST, TUNE IN AND SHARE. 11am Mountain Time. Together we can make a difference.
Chris Lomas…. “When my wife and I landed into Chisinau airport in the early hours of the 17th February 2021, we had no idea what lay in store, other than a desire to 'make a difference' in the lives of orphans and victims of child trafficking. All I remember was, how cold it is in Moldova and how we'd left family, friends, and everything we know to start a new life in what is Europe's poorest country. And now there is a war on our doorstep”.

As a leader of a thriving organization, you’ve already experienced what it’s like to dream something, believe it can come true, work hard for it and realize it. Perhaps now you’re looking for an opportunity to partner with a charity and see a new vision come to life as a result of your generosity. Let me tell you about Hope4Life
We often take for granted the sound of a child laughing, or seeing them play outside care-free, or the ability to send them to school. But imagine that sound of laughter disappeared or worse, had never been heard. Imagine children sitting on the streets begging for food because they haven’t eaten in days. Imagine parents so desperate to provide for their families that they work extortionate hours for £150 a month. Imagine families so vulnerable to exploitation and trafficking, that they are often ripped apart.
These situations are happening every day around the world and families are crying out for change.
Hope4 was founded to help transform the lives of children and families in one of the worst affected countries in the world; Moldova, where conditions within employment and institutional care are truly shocking as well as being the European hub for sex and modern-day slavery.
Hope4 is now supporting more orphans than we ever thought possible, as well as providing assistance to more than 50 children’s homes, an orphan crisis center, a center for victims of abuse, as well as countless families suffering starvation. And we’ve only just scratched the surface.
We extend an invitation to you, the leader of an organization who is looking to form a corporate social responsibility commitment from the board room itself. We want to partner with you so that you can truly be part of the life-changing work that’s taking place.
So, how can you get involved?
We are looking for corporate partners to support us in 3 key areas:
Name Hope4 as your nominated charity for the year
Ongoing monthly support – regular funds allow us to plan and deliver new projects
Ad Hoc Support – your generosity can accelerate the projects in the pipeline
We believe that corporate social responsibility shouldn’t just be a tick box exercise but instead, a partnership with flourishing results. We want to encourage our partners to be part of the vision and the results; where you can once again dream it, believe it, provide for it and see it come to fruition.

The Guam national football team represents Guam, overseas territory of the United States in international football and is controlled by the Guam Football Association. They are affiliated with the Asian Football Confederation's East Asian Football Federation region.
Guam reached its highest ever position in the FIFA World Ranking at 146 in 2015 after victories over Turkmenistan and India.
Football in Guam began in the 1960s, on the initiative of two pioneers: an Irish priest, Tony Gillespie, and an owner of a construction company, Charles Whang, who settled in Guam and created the Guam Soccer Cup before becoming the first president of the Guam Football Association in 1975.
Guam played its first international match at the 1975 Pacific Games against Solomon Islands, losing 5–1. This result was followed by an 11–0 loss to Fiji, eliminating them from the competition. In the 1979 Games, Guam again lost twice to New Caledonia 11–1 and New Hebrides 5–0. Progressing to the Consolation Tournament, Guam registered their first victories, beating Western Samoa 4–2, and Tuvalu 7–2 before losing again to New Hebrides, 5–1.
Despite being considered part of Oceania, and having never faced an Asian team to that point, Guam became an associate member of the AFC in 1991 but continued to participate in the Pacific Games. In 1996, Guam became both a full member of the AFC and of FIFA.
In the 2013 EAFF East Asian Cup Preliminary Competition Round 1, Matao managed to advance past the first round by beating Northern Marianas (3–1) and Macao (3–0). Guam then participated in the 2012 Philippine Peace Cup, replacing Hong Kong, losing against Philippines (1–0) and Chinese Taipei (2–0) but beat Macao (3–0) in its final group game to finish third. Guam advanced to the second qualifying stage of both the 2015 and 2017 EAFF Championship finishing third and fourth respectively and failing to advance to the final competition.
In 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification, Guam beat Turkmenistan (1–0) and India (2–1), finishing fourth in their group and qualifying for the 2019 Asian Cup third round qualifiers, although Guam withdrew before the draw took place. Guam then failed to progress past the first qualifying round for the 2019 EAFF Championship.
The Budweiser Men’s Soccer League (BSL) is the men's top level football league of the Guam Football Association in the United States territory of Guam. Since 2004, the GSL has had two levels, Division 1 and Division 2.[1] Since 2007, the league has adopted a longer s

I have invested my best years in the information technology industry, with two decades of experience in Agile-based Project and Product Management, Digital Transformation for multiple Banks, Telcos, Malls, and reputed F&B and Lifestyle organizations.
Kicking off my career by working on the IBM AS/400 (now known as the iSeries) was probably the most challenging and exciting experience ever, predominantly due to the complex nature of the architecture of this machine which was also referred to as a machine from "dinosaur times".
Having spent almost a decade at IBM, I have implemented ERP solutions in multiple industries in the APAC region including Sri Lanka, Australia, India, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Bangladesh.
During my tenure at DHI, I got the opportunity to use the experience I gathered by working at large corporations and growing start-ups by pioneering the "agile movement" within the organization, and also by setting up an off-shore development team in Jakarta.
I’m known to be a savvy negotiator for strong business development and relationship-building skills. My innate ability to build high-performance teams, including building strategically-selected startups across the region, has developed me into a growth catalyst in the region. I take pride in infusing productive energy when building, leading and nurturing multi-cultural teams.
If you've ever thought "What can I do to drive financial and non-financial support into grassroots sports clubs?" This is the show for you.

Masaki Hemmi: Born August 14 1896. Tokyo. Japan.
“Mac” rejoins the program after a season in the Japanese Professional Women’s Soccer League (WE League) with INAC Kobe Leonessa. Prior to his stint in the WE League, Hemmi spent four seasons on Franks’ staff as an assistant at Denver.
“I’m really excited to have Masaki back with our program,” Franks said. “He has played a huge role in the success of this program, has recruited all of our current guys and I know that he’s committed to helping us achieve our goal of winning a National Championship. His character and integrity are at the center of everything that he does and he models what we expect of our student-athletes day in and day out.”
Hemmi debuted on the Pioneers staff in 2016 as a volunteer assistant, part of the staff named the National Coaching Staff of the Year. The Tokyo, Japan, native spent two years on the staff as a full time assistant, including the final 16 months of his tenure as the program’s recruiting coordinator.
“I am excited and happy to be back with the Denver men’s soccer program and to be working with Jamie once again,” Hemmi said. “Having known the staff, returning student-athletes, the incoming student-athletes and the values that this team holds, I am beyond excited to start working with them again. This is a program full of great people and they strive to be the best they can be every day, and I missed being a part of the organization.
“I’d like to thank Jamie and the administration for believing in me and giving me this opportunity to be back with the program as the associate head coach. I look forward to start working with the team again, and to accomplishing great things together this season and onward.”
Prior to Denver, Hemmi had a six-year stint with the Real Colorado Developmental Academy on his coaching resume, working with teams from U-12 to U-19. Hemmi, who received his BS in petroleum engineering, played his college soccer from 2005-09 at the Colorado School of Mines and the University of New Mexico.
