Hello and welcome to season 2 of the podcast! This episode is jam packed with new segments including the much anticipated return of the fabulous Mr. Perry to the airwaves. Perry will enlighten us with his winning NFL picks throughout the 2020 season, and entertain us as only he can! Plus PJ has another idea to make baseball more interesting and watchable. We also introduce another new segment- the SI flashback, where we look back at Sports Illustrated magazines from PJ's collection. These are from the years 1980 to 1987. In the SI Flashback, we will look at how the world has changed using the magazine issues as a sort of time capsule of what life was like in the 1980s. In this very special episode we introduce Donnie Baseball. Donnie will be a frequent Sports Theory guest. He is a walking baseball encyclopedia, having grown up in Brooklyn in the golden age of New York City baseball, when the Dodgers, Giants and Yankees all called the Big Apple home. Donnie, a Dodger fan in those days, also played baseball at a very high level, and knows the game inside and out. We love talking baseball on the Sports Theory Podcast, and hope you enjoy this episode. We discuss, among other things, some of the problems with modern baseball and how to fix them, Gil Hodges' case for HOF induction, and how today's players stack up against the all time greats. Plus a brand new segment.

PJ and EMac discuss the latest developments in the planning for the return of pro sports, plus EMac's top 5 movie soundtracks, and the last ever PJ's Lightning Round! In our opinion, this will be remembered as the episode where it all came together. Very proud of this episode. We are getting close to the end of season 1, there will be 3 more episodes after this one, then we will take a brief hiatus and be back with big plans for season 2!

PJ and EMac discuss the 2004, 2007, 2013 and 2018 teams, and pick a roster of the best 25 players from those teams. This was a fun episode to record as we got to talk about our favorite players, best moments and best games from the Red Sox four championship runs so far this century. This episode focuses 100% on baseball, creating a much needed diversion from the chaos erupting everywhere in the world. 

In the middle of a particularly interesting pre-show discussion, PJ turns the mic on (to EMac's surprise!) and the results are pretty fantastic! The guys discuss some ideas to make baseball more interesting, and a new Whodunit!

 

PJ scolds MLB's owners for their thinly veiled attempt to use the COVID-19 pandemic to break the players' union, EMac lets the cat out of the bag about PJ's book, PJ and EMac talk about the origins of the podcast, and PJ talks about what it is that motivates people's actions. Plus new BS or VS and Lightning Round!

This is a landmark episode for Sports Theory! We are excited to welcome our first guest on to the podcast- EMac's buddy Dan D, a lifelong Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan, sits down (6 ft away) with us to give us a look into the minds of Bucs fans. Plus a special Whodunit- Tamba Bay Bucs version specifically designed to test Dan's knowledge of the history of the team (spoiler alert- he knocked it out of the park!).

Also in this episode, PJ sees something sinister behind the 2020 graduation program hosted by LeBron James, and featuring President Obama.
