Heather Rule is an award-winning freelance sports journalist who covers the Minnesota Frost. The Frost have won two in a row and have three straight games at home before the Olympic break. Heather says the Frost have been dealing with an illness making its way through the locker room. Heather speaks to the urgency the Frost has to get some regulation wins to help them in the unique PWHL season format. They currently sit 2nd in the League but any separation is a good thing.

Matt Hodson is the Director of Business Communications for the Minnesota Twins. He joins Steve Thomson to talk about the Twins Winter Caravan and Twinsfest just a week away! Matt shares which players and staff will be at which cities across Twins Territory and what to expect next weekend at Target Field for Twinsfest!

Jess Myers covers the Wild for the Pioneer Press. The Wild are struggling with injuries but managed to beat Buffalo this afternoon who have been the hottest team in the league for weeks. Coach Hynes says the solution to the funk is in the room among other hockey cliches. Steve notes that the goaltending has cooled off compared to late last year which also contributes to their struggles.

Every Saturday at 4:07pm the meeting of the Steves commences. He usually weathers the elements when he’s ice fishing but today he’s jigging in the lap of luxury. Steve says the ice has been changing a bunch down in southern Minnesota, some ice houses are finding themselves half submerged. Topsy turvy weather is the culprit so be advised.

Steve asks if Steve’s experience in the swanky house will change his tune in utilizing one himself. He says he gonna stick to the portable as long as it’s above zero.

To open up the hour Steve explains why he thinks driving to Chicago takes the same amount of time than it does to fly.

Then, Heather Rule stops by to talk about the Minnesota Frost finally returning to Grand Casino Arena and the countdown to the Olympics.

Steve and Lindsey get back on their soapbox about the proliferation of sports gambling. They discuss Brooks Koepka attempting to rejoin the PGA Tour after leaving the LIV tour.

They wrap the show with some NFL Wildcard predictions.

Jess talks about a story he has coming up about how hosting the World Junior Championships went for the Twin Cities.

They also touch on both Gopher hockey teams and Jess previews tonight’s matchup between the Wild and Islanders.

Then it’s time for some Ice Fishing chatter. Carney shares his above ice adventures from the week. He also details how the presence of some fish species have changed due to root based plant growth in certain lakes.

He’s still sticking with his snowmobile instead of his vehicle. Be careful out there!
