Not a Code, But the Alpha and the Omega

In this powerful message from Book of Revelation, Pastor Michael Petillo challenges the way many Christians approach the final book of the Bible. Revelation is not a secret code to unlock modern headlines or fuel conspiracy theories—it is a letter. Written to real churches facing brutal persecution under emperors like Nero and Domitian, its purpose was not speculation but strengthening. It gave suffering believers a vision of the exalted, sovereign Christ.

At the center of Revelation 1 is Jesus declaring Himself the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end. Pastor Michael explains that this revelation of Christ gave first-century Christians the courage to face unimaginable suffering. And it is the same revelation we need today.

Jesus Is the Alpha

To say Jesus is the Alpha is to declare that He is God—eternal, uncreated, the First and the Last (echoing Isaiah 44:6). But this truth is not merely theological; it is intensely practical. If Jesus is the beginning, then He must be the starting point of everything: our decisions, relationships, careers, healing, and ambitions.

Many believers try to put church, marriage, parenting, or self-improvement first—hoping those things will produce abundant life. But none of it works unless Christ is first. The place you begin determines the direction you go.

Jesus is not a life coach we consult. He is not an advisor. He is King.

Pastor Michael shares personally about surrendering a relationship in his twenties when he sensed God leading him to let it go. Though it made no sense at the time, choosing obedience—making Jesus the Alpha—positioned him for God’s greater plan. Starting with Christ requires trust, but it always proves worth it.

Jesus Is the Omega

If Jesus is the Alpha, He is also the Omega—the end for which all things exist. The universe was created for Him. Our lives were designed to fit Him. When we attempt to orient our lives around something else—career, relationships, success—we feel the misalignment.

There are two ways to serve God:

1. Making God the means to achieve our real end.

2. Making God the end, and everything else the means.

Pastor Michael reflects on how even sincere believers often begin their faith wanting God to fix their pain, give them success, or fulfill their dreams. God graciously meets us there—but He loves us too much to remain merely a means to our agenda.

Using the example of Moses, who initially made leadership his end and God the means, Pastor Michael shows how true transformation happened only when Moses made God his ultimate prize. When God became Moses’ Omega, everything else fell into its proper place.

Quoting Elizabeth Elliot from her book No Graven Image, Pastor Michael highlights a profound truth: if God is merely our accomplice, disappointment will feel like betrayal. But if He is truly God—our end and our prize—then even loss becomes freedom.

The Big Question

Why are you a Christian?
What is your Omega?

Is Jesus your Alpha—or just your advisor?
Is Jesus your Omega—or just your assistant?

If He is not your beginning and your end, He will never be your peace.

In uncertain times, Revelation does not offer us a code to crack. It offers us Christ—reigning, sovereign, eternal. And seeing Him clearly is what gives believers the courage to endure, obey, and overcome.

The God Who Keeps Introducing Himself

In Genesis 14, we read the first recorded war in human history—four powerful kings plunder Sodom and Gomorrah, capturing people, possessions, and even Abram’s nephew Lot. But what happens next is nothing short of miraculous: Abram mobilizes only 318 trained servants, travels over 140 miles, overtakes the enemy army, and wins an impossible victory, rescuing Lot and recovering everything that was stolen. 

Yet this story isn’t just about battle—it’s about revelation.

Pastor Michael teaches that God often uses moments of crisis not only to deliver us, but to reveal Himself in deeper ways. Abram returns from victory and is met by two kings: Melchizedek, the King of Salem and priest of God Most High, and the King of Sodom. Melchizedek brings bread and wine, blesses Abram, and introduces him to a new revelation of God: El Elyon—God Most High, the Creator and Possessor of heaven and earth. 

Immediately after this powerful encounter, the King of Sodom attempts to tempt Abram with the spoils of war. But Abram refuses without hesitation. Why? Because Abram had become fully convinced that God owned everything already. That revelation made him free—free from greed, compromise, and the world’s grip. 

Pastor Michael reminds us that many believers know God as Savior, but haven’t truly discovered Him as El Elyon, the One who is fully in control. Without that revelation, temptation becomes harder to resist and trust becomes harder to hold.

The message continues by showing a pattern in Abram’s life: every major crisis became a doorway into a new understanding of God. In Genesis 17, when Abram is old and still waiting on the promised child, God introduces Himself again—this time as El Shaddai, “God Almighty,” the all-sufficient One. Abram’s faith grows stronger because he becomes convinced that God can do whatever He promises. 

Finally, in Genesis 22, even in Abram’s old age, God leads him into another test—offering Isaac on Mount Moriah. In that moment, God reveals yet another name: Jehovah Jireh, “The Lord Will Provide.” Once again, the trial becomes the classroom where God reveals His nature more deeply. 

Pastor Michael closes with encouragement for anyone walking through repeated seasons of hardship: your trials may not be punishment—they may be preparation. God is still introducing Himself, shaping your faith, and building something in you that will empower your prayers, your authority, and your trust for what He wants to do next.

By This Is Love Perfected

In this message, Pastor Billy Coker teaches how God uses storms—not to destroy us, but to perfect His love in us. Using John 6:16-21, we see the disciples obey Jesus and head across the sea, only to face darkness, strong winds, and a terrifying storm. Even though they were in God’s will, obedience still led them into hardship.

Pastor Billy reminds us that this is often the pattern of the Christian life: the test follows the lesson. When we step out in faith, storms come—but not as punishment. They come to expose our dependence on the flesh and invite us into deeper trust in Christ.

The disciples rowed for miles, exhausted and afraid, trying to push through in their own strength. But the real lesson wasn’t simply to “try harder”—it was to realize that the flesh profits nothing, and without Jesus in the boat, they were never meant to make it across. While it seemed like Jesus was distant, Scripture shows He was praying on the mountain, interceding for them until the moment they reached the end of themselves.

Then Jesus appears—walking on the storm itself—and speaks the words they needed most:
“It is I; do not be afraid.”
When they welcomed Him into the boat, they immediately arrived at their destination, revealing that Jesus not only meets us in the storm—He carries us through it.

Pastor Billy connects this story to 1 John 4:17-21, showing that fear is often evidence that God’s love is still being perfected in us. Perfect love casts out fear, not through human effort, but through the Spirit. God is shaping believers to live with confidence, freedom, and love—both toward Him and toward others.

The sermon closes with a powerful reminder: life is filled with “boats” and seasons of struggle, but our calling is simple—obey when God says go, and pray when you feel like rowing. God is always near, always interceding, and always pouring His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.

The Night the Church Prayed—and History Moved

The Unconsuming Fire

Be the Light, Not the Drama

Fruit in the Final Days

Between the command and the promise, believers face a wilderness—battling the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life. These distractions slowly pull hearts away from eternal things if they are not confronted.

John also warns of another danger in the final hour: false teachers and antichrist spirits that use spiritual language to deceive. They may look and sound convincing, but they deny Christ by shifting focus away from truth, obedience, and spiritual fruit. Many fail late in their walk not because they lacked zeal, but because they stopped abiding.

Yet the message is full of hope. Believers have already been given everything they need. The Holy Spirit abides within us—teaching, convicting, empowering, and anchoring us in truth. We do not need new revelations or experiences; we are called to hold fast to what we received from the beginning. When we abide in Christ, our lives bear fruit that brings glory to God and leads us to the promise of eternal life.

Jesus reminds us that apart from Him we can do nothing, but those who remain in Him will bear much fruit. In every season of life, the call remains the same: abide, hold fast, and depend daily on the work of the Holy Spirit.

Which Tree Are You Eating From?
