This month's Squirrel Talk Book Club gets a little interstellar as we dive into the Bobiverse series. We brought Jon back on the mic, and things got exactly as nerdy and chaotic as you'd hope. From sentient AI clones to space exploration and existential humor, we break down what made this series such a blast—and yeah, we don't shy away from a few things that didn't quite hit for us either.
We also bounce around (because of course we do) and talk about what else we've been reading lately before locking in our next Book Club pick: Ready Player One. Get ready for some nostalgia overload next month.
If you've read Bobiverse, thinking about it, or just enjoy listening to three guys spiral into random tangents with a book somewhere in the mix… this one's for you.

On this episode of Squirrel Talk, we went completely off the rails in the best possible way—trying to figure out which movies would be absolutely ridiculous (or secretly amazing) if they were turned into full-blown musicals. From imagining The Dark Knight as a dramatic, brooding sing-along to picturing the high-speed chaos of Fast & Furiousturned into a family-themed anthem fest, nothing was safe.
We also dove into the long-running rumor of Spaceballs actually becoming a musical—something that somehow feels both inevitable and completely unhinged at the same time. Between fake song titles, terrible singing ideas, and way too much confidence in our own musical abilities, this one spirals fast.
Some movies definitely should never be musicals… which of course made us want them even more.

In this episode, Chris and Mike take a hilarious trip back to the 1980s and 1990s to revisit some of the most unforgettable PSAs and commercials from the era. From the overly dramatic anti-drug campaigns to the weirdly catchy jingles that are somehow still stuck in our heads decades later, nothing is safe.
They break down the messages, the unintentionally funny acting, the low-budget effects, and the moments that made an entire generation either slightly traumatized or strangely nostalgic. Along the way, they ask the important questions: Did these PSAs actually work? Why were they always so intense? And why were commercials way more memorable back then?
Expect plenty of laughs, random tangents, and a whole lot of "Oh man, I remember that!" moments as they dig into the strange, hilarious, and sometimes downright bizarre world of retro public service announcements and classic commercials.

This week, we dive into Operation Bounce House — and let's just say… it's not what we expected.
We break down the wild premise, the uncomfortable parallels to real life, and why this story hits harder than your typical sci-fi adventure. From gamer culture and corporate overreach to moral responsibility and what happens when entertainment goes too far, this episode gets thoughtful, heated, and occasionally unhinged (as it should).
We talk characters, tone, pacing, and whether this one sticks the landing — all without giving anything away here. If you've read it, you'll love the deep dive. If you haven't, this will help you decide if it's worth your time.
It's sci-fi. It's satire. It's chaotic. It's peak Squirrel Talk.

Mike is officially back.
After last week's completely serious, totally reasonable tribute episode honoring his "possible" distal bicep rupture, Mike returns to Squirrel Talk… and we pretend he has absolutely no idea what happened.
That's right. We act like the celebrity messages, fictional character tributes, Couch Ghost appearance, and borderline memorial energy never existed.
Did Tom Hanks send a heartfelt message? Did Alien hiss in solidarity? Did someone ask where to send flowers?
We're not saying.
In this follow-up episode, Mike gives his side of the injury, we discuss what actually happened, and we slowly unravel whether he truly didn't know about the tribute episode… or if he's been plotting revenge the entire time.
Closure? Maybe. Accountability? Unlikely. Future retaliation? Almost guaranteed.

1Up Electric — powering Southwest Missouri one job at a time.
Mike is out this week with a suspected distal bicep rupture, so instead of canceling the episode, Chris does the only reasonable thing… a completely serious tribute episode.
What starts as a heartfelt "get well soon" quickly spirals into absolute chaos as messages pour in from celebrities, athletes, fictional characters, and some extremely questionable sources. From Tom Hanks and Barack Obama to Ghostbusters, Dungeon Crawler Carl, Alien, Predator, and even Couch Ghost, everyone has something to say about Mike's injury. Some are encouraging. Some are judgmental. Some clearly think Mike has passed on.
The episode escalates into a full fake memorial before ending with an unapproved message from Mike himself asking Chris to please stop making it weird.
It's heartfelt. It's ridiculous. It's exactly why Mike can never miss a week again.

In this episode of Squirrel Talk, we slow things down just enough to talk about what's been keeping our brains busy lately. We dive into some of our favorite books we've read so far this year, what's currently on our reading lists, and what we've been listening to along the way. Of course, it wouldn't be Squirrel Talk without a little chaos, so we also get into some of the games we're playing right now and why they've got us hooked. We're also looking ahead to February, when we'll be reading Operation Bounce House, so grab a copy and read along with us.
