This episode was inspired by the story of a friend, we'll make up a fake name to protect the innocent and call him Dave Coultis, who is finding out why it's a problem when people don't get a permit for their renovation.

Dave is in the midst of trying to buy a house that has been recently renovated but the owner and contractor didn't get any permits and there's some waterlines where they shouldn't be which is a bit of a red flag.

Now, the whole purchase is in doubt.
