Sri M, continues the Kriya Yoga concepts, explained on Day 1 of the Spring Retreat 1He begins this session by highlighting the importance of knowing the goal of any practice. Moving on, he explains what 'Upanishad' means and takes up the Mandukya Upanishad which deals with the states of consciousness, common to all, for a brief outline.

Sri M lays the foundation for Kriya, by explaining basic concepts, usually not given much thought, in an easily understandable manner.Explaining the link between thought and language, he goes on to highlight the importance of sound and it's role in bringing about change in oneself.Sri M, ends the session, by highlighting the guidance available in the Bhagavad Gita.

Sri M explains the meaning of the concept of 'Tapasya', it's significance in our daily lives and it's impact on our spiritual journey.

Sri M goes into great detail to clarify the word and the overall philosophy of Yoga as it is taught in the Patanjali Yoga Sutras. He discusses the concepts of Kriya Yoga found in the 2nd chapter, the Sadhana Pada - Tapasya, Swadhyaya, and Ishwara Pranidhana and emphasises the prime importance of 'Nairantarya abhyasa' - constant practice. Sri M concludes the session by responding to a few queries.

Sri M talks about man's eternal search for happiness which is habitually spent in the outside world of the five senses resulting in a temporary happiness that is inevitably tainted by the advent of sorrow. Seeing the futility in this endless cycle of such short-lived joy man is prompted to search for happiness beyond the external world.
