  • Pentecost and the Kingdom of God - Fr. Michael Flowers - 6-8-14
Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will convict the world of sin, justice and condemnation. These are all cosmic legal terms effecting the outworking of God's Kingdom on earth.
The Holy Spirit is fully God, not only with us but in us, to implement the rule of Jesus, our defense attorney, at the Father's right hand, the place of all authority and power. Jesus breathes into his disciples the life of new creation and we are the beginning of heaven and earth coming together. Come, Holy Spirit!

  • The Feast Of The Ascension - Fr. Michael Flowers - 06-01-14
The Ascension of the crucified and risen Lord Jesus was his enthronement as King of kings and Lord of lords. The Throne of God is occupied by a new species of new creation, the new man, the representative for the human race, the second Adam.
As he journeyed towards the celestial gates, the powers were astonished and perplexed. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord, strong and mighty in battle, he is the King of Glory! They had to ask once again, "Who is this King of Glory?"
Heaven has been forever altered, the second Adam, the Lamb of God, is seated at the right hand of God, the Father, the place of ultimate supremacy, power and authority. Jesus, the Lord of all, is subduing all of his enemies in the fallen, heavenly realm. He will come again in glory and his Kingdom will have no end.

  • Abiding In Jesus, 1 Of 2, Fr. Michael Flowers - 5 - 25 - 14
Jesus, the Vine, offers his risen life to us.Through him, we share the relational life of the Holy Trinity. The Father is the Gardener who cuts away unproductive growth, resulting in more fruit ... the love of God poured in and through us.
We must learn how to discern times of consolation and desolation throughout our day. We must also learn how to abide when the Gardner is pruning us for more growth potential. As Paul says to the Romans, "behold the goodness and the severity of God ..." All the Father's dealings come from divine love, as a good father disciplines his children. Punning is a process that cuts away unproductive growth, those 'branches' of our lives that have seemed to grow inward rather than upward towards the sun / Son. Pruning helps us maximize God's grace!
The fruit of the Vine is the divine love and only as we "go" in following Jesus will we bear such fruit. Disciples are recognized as such by visible expressions of this love.
