We are called to replace those habits that tear down the church with habits that build up the family of faith. What habits can we define that are classified as ones that tear down the church? How do we overcome them and replace them with habits that build up the church?

The worldly pattern of being inwardly focused and complacent affects even believers, even within the church. It is too easy to tear down — this week we talk about Gods plan for us to build up.

We are to do all we can to avoid falling into complacency about Communion, about church, about worship, or even about Jesus. We are to commit ourselves every day to doing all we can to build up the body of Christ and to be a good witness to the saving love of our Lord.

Paul instructs the Corinthian church to do what builds up the body, and do what is a good witness for Jesus. What can we do to build up the body of Christ, in our case, the local church called St. Andrew? How can we be better witnesses for Christ?

Paul’s work on earth was to create communities of people centered around the resurrection of Jesus Christ. They were outposts for the kingdom of God in a godless world. We are still on that same mission today.
