There is only one reason to be a Christian - because you believe that the Christian claims are true. Not because you need help with some aspect of your life or because you want to belong to something. How do we know that the claims we make are true? Because God resurrected Jesus of Nazareth. Christianity stands or falls on the truthfulness of that claim. The impact upon us and the world we touch is transformational when serving Christ becomes our number one priority.

Out of all the things in this world, Christ matters most. Out of all the beliefs in the world – Christ is what we hold on to. We believe that Jesus is God which means that we hold on to Christ, no matter what.

Remember the Texas Rangers slogan in 2010, “It’s Time”? “It’s Time” meant it was time to take their baseball game to the next level. Likewise, “it’s time” for us as a congregation to take our calling to offer Christ to the community to the next level. Though our invitation to others might begin with a simple invitation to visit St. Andrew, we ought to bear in mind that the invitation Jesus extends is life-changing, touching every part of our lives, our minds, our hearts, and our hands.

You have never met someone that doesn’t need Jesus. We cannot force anyone to follow Jesus, but we can invite all who we meet to join us on this journey!

From its beginning nearly two thousand years ago, the Church, the body of Christ, has understood that God’s call for us to love him and others is not mere sentiment, but a call to action. If we truly live as God’s people, then the world will be better because we are here. To follow the Jesus Way means to be immersed in transforming hearts and lives by offering Christ.

When God works in us, two things are changed. First, we are changed. God makes us into more holy and faithful creatures. Second, the world gets changed and it gets changed by us. We are called to make an impact.

God created us to be in relationship with God and with one another. To follow the Jesus way is to believe that we are not alone in this life and in eternal life after death. Therefore, our chief purpose as a Christian is to lead others to Jesus so that they, too, may know the hope, joy and peace of never being alone.
