As we prepare for Lent, the Transfiguration reminds us to focus on Jesus, not on ourselves. Lent is a time to STOP, LOOK and LISTEN to Jesus, the one worthy of worship, the only one stood before us, ready to speak.

The sermon explores the problem of sin, as explained by St Paul: the refusal to acknowledge God, the turn to ‘idolatry’, and God’s policy of non-interference (‘God gave them over..’). Sin is a endemic feature of societies and cultures. God’s wrath is his implacable hostility to the destruction that sin has brought upon humanity. And his response, in love, is the Cross.
