"Death puts an end to human life as the time open to either accepting or rejecting the divine grace manifested in Christ. (Catechism of the Catholic Church #1021). This explains how it could be that the five foolish virgins, unprepared for the Bridegroom's arrival, were not admitted to the banquet once the door was closed and locked. There is a time of mercy that we are given now to choose to love God and neighbor. The moment of death fixes, in an eternal way, the choices we have made in this lifetime. After death, there is no time to buy oil from the merchants. The time is now. And it is urgent. And it is full of mercy.
