The text for this week comes from John 14:25-31. The theme, by Pastor Bob Bekkerus, for this week is "Faith > Fear: Through the Darkness."

Peace isn't the absence of conflict. Peace is through the conflict. As a conflict-averse person, born of conflict-averse people, that's hard for me. But Jesus teaches us how to let our faith lead us through the scary parts of conflict, and into a new kind of peace. Not as the world gives, but as God gives when we find ourselves reconciled to God.

The text for this week comes from 2 Timothy 1:3-7. The message for this week is "Faith > Fear: Standing on Something." COVID.  Riots.  Racism.  Unemployment.  It's easy to be afraid of the future.  It's easy to be afraid of someone you don't know, or something you don't understand.  Fear is a natural response to the unknown.  But we are given a spirit that doesn't lend itself to fear.  It lends itself to live the story as if we know who is in control - because we do.  The Holy Spirit gives us power, love, and self-discipline because God shows us what power, love, and self-discipline look like through Jesus.

This week's message is "Salt and Light" by Intern Pastor Tim Jacobsen and the text is Matthew 5:13-16.

The lesson this week is "Real Treasure" by Pastor Mike Foss and the lesson is Matthew 6:19-21.

Jesus tell us that “my sheep hear my voice.”  But hearing the voice of Jesus isn’t always easy.  What are the things that pull us away, and how can we return to Jesus to hear once again?   The lesson this week is John 7: 37-39.

For many of us, speaking to God is a privilege of the faithful elite (Pastors, church leaders).   Jesus speaks to the crowd and tells them that his voice, his promise, is right there for every person who comes to him.  “Let anyone come to me.”  What is preventing you from this invitation to drink the “water of life” that Jesus offers.

There are so many competing messages in our world, how can we know the right message?  How do we distinguish the “good” messages from the “God” messages?  Jesus, when confronted with the way the Jewish faith had behaved for centuries begins to turn their attention away from the tradition and to his voice – a voice of hope.

There are so many distractions around us that we often can’t get still enough to really hear from God.  Peter, James and John are invited with Jesus to a time of rest and quiet, away from the world, but there they see God in a whole new light.  Can we find times, patterns, and places where we can connect directly to God’s voice?

Today we look at "Real Faith Benefits" with Pastor Mike Foss.  The lesson is Psalm103:9-13.  Two questions for today's message:

1) Have you experienced God answering a prayer?

2) Have you seen or experienced the benefits of practicing your faith? What are they?

This is the last message in our "It's Not Over" series.  This week, Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego are caught between the power of the King and God’s command.  I wonder – what do we do when we see a golden statue show up in our lives, something that we know it would be safer to just go along with, but we can’t.  These three leave the results up to God, and follow the command.  When we wonder what that means for us, we ask a simple question:  “What does love require of me?”  The lesson is Daniel 3:19-25

We continue the "It’s Not Over" series with "Elijah and the Widow." 

Often when we feel the most insecure, God asks us to bless him and others.  The widow, with only enough food for that day, listens to the call to care for Elijah and the promise that she will be cared for.  We must find ways to care for and bless others even when we’re not sure what tomorrow would bring – because God commands us to.  But we can be assured that, when we do care for our neighbor, God will provide for us.  The lesson is 1 Kings 17:8-16
