The five foolish virgins were not rejected, but were unprepared when the bridegroom arrived. Andrew Bosse reminds us that being invited is not the same as being ready. We are called to stay watchful and ready, with hearts prepared to meet Him.

The oil is mercy, love and virtue. You can’t get mercy, love or virtue from others and that’s why the virgins are told to go and buy as the oil cannot be transferred. When you pray, no one can take that from you. When you are merciful, no one can take that from you. Produce your own oil. Produce your oil by showing mercy, love, virtue.
