Bishop Chris Edwards challenges the members of the church to prayer and support for one another. He considers the "riddles" of two parables of the Kingdom of Heaven and discusses the meaning of Commitment and Cost in following Jesus.  He points to the cost for God to send his only Son to die for us.

God tests Abraham to offer his son of promise, Isaac, in sacrifice. Abraham obeys and God himself provides the lamb.  The parallel is drawn with God providing his only Son, Jesus, as the sacrifice on the Cross for us.

When Abraham is 100 years old, God provides his the promised son through Sarah. She rejoices in laughter, but then asks to be rid of her slave Hagar and son Ishmael who almost die.  Yet in the joy and the pain God is still working.

God calls Abram and promises him blessings of descendants, land, riches and blessing to all people.  Abram heeds the call, but goes on to mess up. Yet through a son, Jesus, we learn that God's grace is greater than our mess.

Continuing our sermon series in 2 Corinthians, Ron Irving considers the use of the term "glory" such as after a victory in sporting events etc.  St Paul considers the fading glory evident on Moses shining face in the giving of the Law on tablets of stone.
