The Parable of the Sower

The seated Jesus preached to a great crowd from a boat

He spun a sower mystery to the crowd v1-9

He explained the parable to disciples v10,18-23,

Let’s not be Foolish in our response v4-7, 18-22

Jesus spoke of four types of soils/ hearts

· Unresponsive heart v4,19

· Impulsive heart v5-6,20-21

· Preoccupied heart v 7, 22

· Responsive heart v8-9, 23 cf 7:24-27

Let’s, like wise Matthew, reflect on the Word of the Kingdom v19

It is what the Son chooses to reveal about the Father 11:27

Some things Matthew reflects on

· He is our Father in heaven 5:16

· He loves perfectly 5:43-48

· He rewards genuine piety 6:1-17

· He feeds and clothes Christ’s disciples 6:25-33

· He gives good gifts to his children 7:7-12

Let’s, like wise Paul, pray for fruitfulness Eph 3:14-21

He prays for all disciples that we will

· Be strengthened by the Spirit’s might v14-16

· Understand Christ’s love v17-19

· Be filled with God’s fulness v19
