Fr. Matthias Shehad explores the meaning and significance of the Cross in the life of a Christian disciple. Drawing from Scripture, he explains how the Cross represents the power of God for salvation, a call to embrace suffering, and a sign of reconciliation with God. Fr. Matthias emphasizes that the Cross is not to be hidden or a source of shame but a reason for boasting and bold faith.

He also discusses the Cross as an example of humility, obedience, and perfect endurance demonstrated by Christ. Through the Cross, Christ paid the price for our redemption, conquered Satan, and grants believers the strength to overcome sin and remain faithful amid trials.

Fr. Matthias connects these truths to the Nativity fast, highlighting how the Cross is central to understanding Christ’s incarnation and the salvation He offers. This reflection helps deepen faith and encourages perseverance in the Christian journey.#TheCross #ChristianFaith #SalvationInChrist #EnduranceInFaith #ChristOurRedeemer #NativityFast #StPaulHouston #Coptic #FrMatthias

Fr. Matthias Shehad explores the difference between knowledge and action in the Christian life by examining biblical examples such as the widow whose son was raised from the dead and the lawyer who questioned Christ. He explains how faith is essential for God’s work to manifest and why knowledge alone is not enough. Fr. Matthias highlights the role of the scribes and lawyers in preserving the Scriptures, yet points out their failure to recognize Christ as the fulfillment of the law due to lack of faith.

He emphasizes that the law God calls us to follow is the law of love, not just knowledge. Drawing from Scripture, Fr. Matthias challenges believers to put their faith into action, warning against empty knowledge without practice. He encourages a simple life of faith, trusting and obeying God beyond intellectual understanding to truly inherit eternal life.#FaithInAction #ChristianLiving #BiblicalFaith #LawOfLove #ChristianSermon #TrustAndObey #StPaulHouston #Coptic #FrMatthias

H.G. Bishop Gregory explains the foundational principles of Christian service, emphasizing that serving begins with a calling from God motivated by love for Him and neighbor. He outlines the necessity of personal discipline and maintaining a strong relationship with the Lord through prayer and spiritual canon to effectively serve others.

Bishop Gregory highlights the importance of ongoing discipleship, acknowledging our own weaknesses, and exercising patience and mercy toward those we serve. He discusses integrity as being consistent in character both publicly and privately, warning against hypocrisy that can harm the faith of others.

He encourages servants to face trials without fleeing and to nurture genuine one-on-one relationships with those they serve, showing love beyond just teaching. Fr. Matthias Shehad explores the prophecy of St. John the Baptist as spoken by his father, Zacharias, highlighting its connection to the coming of Christ and the salvation of humanity. He explains the significance of key biblical symbols such as the "horn of salvation" and how Christ fulfills ancient prophecies by offering redemption through His incarnation and sacrifice.

Fr. Matthias connects the Old Testament imagery of sin offerings and altar horns to Christ’s role as the ultimate savior, emphasizing salvation as a gift of grace rather than a reward for human merit. He reflects on the spiritual enemy and the mercy of God, showing how believers are called to live without fear and serve God faithfully.

The sermon also addresses John the Baptist’s role in preparing the way for Christ through baptism and faith, and the call for Christians to bear the light of Christ in a darkened world. This teaching links the Nativity and Theophany feasts to the fulfillment of God’s covenant and plan for salvation.#JohnTheBaptist #ChristianProphecy #FrMatthiasShehad #SalvationInChrist #BiblicalSermon #FaithAndRedemption #StPaulHouston #Coptic #FrMatthias

Fr. Matthias Shehad explains the meaning behind the Orthodox crowning ceremony, highlighting why the bride and groom do not exchange personal vows. He emphasizes that marriage vows come from God, who defines the commitment and love spouses owe each other. Drawing from John 13, Fr. Matthias describes marriage as a model of Christ’s love, which requires ongoing effort beyond the wedding day.

Fr. Matthias carefully outlines the distinct commandments given by the Church to the groom and bride. The groom is called to show compassion and to actively seek to gladden his wife’s heart, understanding how she perceives love. The bride is instructed to honor and respect her husband, embracing obedience out of love, recognizing this as key to the marital relationship. He teaches that unconditional love and respect reflect Christ’s love and are essential for a flourishing marriage.

Marriage is portrayed as a lifelong sacrificial commitment that unites the couple through the grace of the Holy Spirit.#OrthodoxMarriage #ChristianMarriage #CrowningCeremony #FaithAndLove #MarriageInChrist #HolySpiritBlessing #StPaulHouston #Coptic #FrMatthias

Fr. James Gendi explores the theme of humble beginnings and divine purpose by examining the life of St. Mary, highlighting her modest origins and ultimate exaltation. He emphasizes how God often chooses the weak and humble for His plans, using biblical examples like David, Gideon, and Moses to illustrate how God strengthens those who recognize their dependence on Him.

He also reflects on the dangers of pride and the importance of humility, repentance, and continual reliance on God’s grace. The message encourages believers to see their weaknesses as opportunities for God’s power to be revealed.

Fr. Matthias Shehad explores the profound duality of God’s nature during the Nativity: God is both far in His glory, holiness, and essence, yet near through His incarnation and presence within us. He explains God’s transcendence as Creator and King, living in heaven, deserving of worship, and beyond human comprehension. At the same time, Fr. Matthias speaks of God’s nearness—how God chose to become Emmanuel, “God with us,” dwelling among humanity and within believers by the Holy Spirit. He emphasizes God’s personal knowledge of each individual and the call to draw near in prayer, obedience, and trust. Fr. Matthias highlights the healing, purification, and courage found in God’s closeness, rooted in His everlasting love. This message connects the grandeur of God’s divinity with the intimate experience of His presence in our daily lives.#Nativity2018 #GodWithUs #NearnessOfGod #Emmanuel #ChristianSermon #DivinePresence #StPaulHouston #Coptic #FrMatthias
