Wisdom is the biblical term for the type of everyday living required for ‘on earth as it is in heaven’. Wisdom is more than knowledge; it involves making sense of God, self and the world—but wisdom is the application of knowledge—it is acting accordingly. Ultimately, wisdom is the orientation which allows one to live in harmonious accord with God's ordering of the world. It is a way of viewing the world, where God is creator, sovereign, and to be trusted. When living in his way, his ordering of the world, there is harmony, shalom and accord. To dive deeper into the theme of biblical Wisdom, our desire is to focus on Old Testament Wisdom Literature. Specifically looking at the books of Proverbs, Job and Ecclesiastes.
This week Dave looks further into Proverbs, specifically on the beginning and essence of wisdom is fear of the Lord—a fear of reverence, respect, honour, devotion and awe.
