Today’s yarn is part 2 of the week long Kayuga Adventures Bowhunters Course. We bring you the final few days of hunting recaps, share lessons learned, successes, F@&k ups (yours truely) and hear from an absolute larrikin, the man, the myth, the no filter legend… Carl Moore (Mattie’s old man).Â
We shared plenty of laughs and even more beers during the last few days of the course and met friends for life.
Big congratulations to “Sparrow” for downing her first pig with the bow! Well done champ, onwards and upwards from here!

Today's yarn comes live from the Kayuga Adventures Bowhunters course. We had the pleasure of partaking in the 7 day course on the beautiful Strathburn Station Cape York Queensland.
Matt Moore (Owner Kayuga Adventures), Brad Smith and Ian Summers put together a master class week of instruction that we will never forget. The combination of archery and bowhunting knowledge of these three men is something unrivalled in this country and across the world.Â
Kayuga Adventures bowhunting courses run over a 7 day period and cover an extensive range of instructional lectures and live hunts including:Â
At the completion of each days activities, we sat down as a group and recorded a recap of the days events, learnings and funny moments to bring you an insight into arguably the most comprehensive bowhunting course in the world.
Matty, Dani, Ian and Brad treated us all with great respect and provided exceptional hospitality over the 7 days.
We shared some amazing memories, took down some great critters and enjoyed more than our share of laughs with the odd beer or 10 each night.
This is a multi part series coming to you in the coming weeks.
We will remember the amazing week at Kayuga Adventures for a very long time.
This is their story. Â

Today’s yarn is all about what gear to consider for a multi day backpack hunt. For this one we called upon a good mate of the show Steve to help us cover all types of gear required for the extended day backpack hunt. Steve has plenty of Bow and Rifle hunting experience and has spent many years out in the bush working out what works and what doesn’t.
Topics covered:
The topic of gear is very subjective, what one persons likes may be different from another. This episode was designed to give some thoughts and ideas that may help in the midfield that is setting yourself up with the correct gear specific to your multi day backpack adventure.

Today’s yarn is all about not being a Kook when starting out in spearfishing. Who better to guide us through the subject than the man himself, The KOOK SPEARO.
The Kookman takes us through plenty of handy tips on things to remember when starting out in the water, as well as some sound safety advice on surviving each and every dive.Â
Topics include:
•Being a good boatie.
•How to pack for a trip on someone else’s vessel.
•What gear to run as a noob, speargun selection and why.
•Being a good dive buddy.
During recording it didn't take long to realise that the Kook Spearo is anything but a Kook. We had a great time getting to know him and look forward to catching up with him for a dive next time we head south on a mission.Â
This is his story.Â

Julz was an absolute champion of a fella and we share plenty of laughs as well as a few beers during this yarn.Â
Julz had a stellar 2024 on the bow and we can’t wait to see how his 2025 season unfolds.Â

Today’s yarn is with 3x Spearfishing World Recold holder Erin McGinty. Erin has spent the best part of her life on, in or learning about the ocean including a PhD in Marine Science Genetics and MC <24m and MED vessel qualifications.Â
Erin has travelled extensively throughout Australia, working in some of the most remote communities in the country giving instruction to Traditional Owners on the commercial boating front as well as skippering vessels for extended research expeditions.Â
All this time she spent years underwater honing her craft as one of the most capable Spearo’s in the country. With 3x World and 10x Australian Records to her name, Erin has bagged some of the most impressive fish there is.
We had a great time catching up with Erin who shared plenty of wisdom on finding fish, bluewater techniques, breath hold and provided sound advice for the next generation of female Spearo’s starting out or improving in the sport.Â
Erin has a passion for the ocean and a drive for adventure that is infectious to be around.Â
We look forward to learning a few lessons from her out on a dive real soon.Â
This is her story.Â
