In the Word of God the word "discern" means to test, examine and scrutinize. In other words to carefully examine what is being presented and make a correct judgment consistent with the teachings of the Bible. But in some circles these days the word discernment has become another word for attack, discredit and destroy.

Discernment based on the Word of God is necessary and crucial to our growth in the knowledge and grace of Jesus Christ. Discernment is a gift to make sure we are not deceived and led astray by false teachers who preach a false gospel. But these days some who claim to represent discernment ministries use their resources to hammer any professing Christian who doesn't believe exactly what they do about any or every teaching in the Word of God.

There is an important role to be played by discernment ministries, but how can we tell which ones are solid and biblically based and which are out to garner attention or divide the Body of Christ in a way that is harmful?

Pastor Randy White joins us to discuss this and help us understand how to discern between those serving the Body of Christ and those who are self-serving. We also look at the significance of the anniversary of Israel's seventieth year of existence in modern times.

Benny Hinn is one of the best-known purveyors of the dangerous Prosperity Gospel movement. He has made wild, unfounded claims, twisted scripture to its breaking point, and proclaimed "prophecies received from God" that have not come true. The Bible says that is the first sign of a false prophet. Hinn lives a life of luxury built on the backs of naive followers who want the alleged anointing and the riches that the Prosperity Gospel promises if you just have enough faith.

Hinn's nephew Costi was on the inside of the movement for years, but God has delivered him from its grip; and now Costi is speaking out against the dangerous teachings of Uncle Benny's organization. This morning we cover Costi Hinn's discussion with Justin Peters about his journey into and out of this dangerous heresy.

As with all people who are deceived by a false gospel, we pray that God will open their eyes to the deception and help them see the true nature and character of God.

We start with a basic truth: All humans are sinful and rebellious against God until the grace of God opens our eyes to our sin, leading us to confession, repentance and believing in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord of our lives. If not for the grace of God, any one of us could be deceived into believing the lies we hear throughout our culture and even in the church. Many of us who have been enlightened and saved by faith will struggle with temptation and sin until the day we die.

Today we tackle the growing confusion regarding sex, gender, identity, and sin and what we can do to lead others to the truth of God and His Word. For twenty years, Mike Levenhagen of Reclamation Resource Center has been dedicated to speaking the truth in love to those not only imprisoned to homosexual or gender-related lies, but also to those who struggle with heterosexual lust and adultery. When we first come to saving faith in Jesus Christ we are on fire but still immature in the Christian faith. With the myriad of Christian teaching and television out there ranging from excellent all the way down to flat out heresy, how do we help new believers understand the difference between biblical truth and human error and deception? From Christian churches being vandalized to leftist politicians all but saying people who believe in the Bible shouldn't be allowed to serve in government, the attacks are real and intensifying with each passing year. We had better wake up!

As we become a post-Christian nation the natural effect is that absolute truth becomes a thing of the past, replaced by "individual morality".
