Today the picture is of a family and a temple - people being united together in Christ's family - the place where God lives. This church may not much look like that yet, but we are on our way!

Last week we heard about Luke's account of Jesus showing his followers that he was the promised Messiah - the special one who came from God the father in Heaven to live on Earth and to call us all into God's family ... and this week we find about the cost. A huge cost, not to anyone who listens to Jesus but to Jesus himself.

So, it's back to Luke's account of Jesus Christ's life on earth - and today he makes plain that Jesus was (is) the Messiah - that means the person that God had promised, almost from Day 1 of the planet, would sort out the mess that humanity had got itself into - the person who would overthrow evil permanently and allow any human who wants to stand before God perfect in every way. A person worth knowing about!

To start our Autumn programme we're going to remind ourselves of the Church's verse for the year which says "Christ entered heaven ... to appear for us in God's presence". Yes! every follower of Christ has the ultimate representative speaking to God on their behalf. Amazing! Does that make a difference to how we live? You bet!

And the message for us? Why, its that, whatever difficulties we come across, Jesus Christ is more powerful. We'd better believe it!

From time-to-time, Luke's account of the life of Jesus Christ thrusts this question full in our faces - have you listened , really listening, to what Jesus said. He often taught God's truth by using stories of everyday life. In today's look at the Bible we come to one of the most famous - "the story of the sower and the ground". But Jesus ends his teaching with a phrase that might loosely be translated 'if you've got ears, use them'. Listen to the podcast ... and use your ears!
