WHAT WAS THAT BUSINESS ON CATO NEIMOIDIA? It’s time for another spoiler-free book review and this one is about the recently released Brotherhood by Mike Chen! Set in the first few weeks of the Clone Wars (just after Ep II: Attack Of The Clones) this story delves into the shift in Anakin & Obi-Wan’s relationship once Anakin is promoted from padawan to jedi while also dealing with crisis on Cato Neimoidia (as mentioned in Revenge Of The Sith) plus this book introduces a Clone Wars character, shows what Padmé & Anakin are like when aware from prying eyes as well as much more!

MARCHION RO’S HISTORY IS REVEALED! In these comics Mike takes you through Qort’s origin story, a deepening connection between Zeen Mrala & Lula Talisola, the Great Jedi Rumble Race, the Nihil conspiring and a special cooking story, plus information on the Aloxian, Er’Kit & Nuna species, the Krell Sisters, loadlifter droids & more!

These High Republic comics are set in 230BBY, in the first phase & third wave of the High Republic, just before The Fallen Star.

This episode was first released on the feed of Comics In Motion, in April 2022.

The High Republic Adventures 9 was released 6th October 2021, issue 13 was released 23rd February 2022, the Galactic Bake-Off Spectacular was released 19th January 2022 and the trade paperback collection is out September 2022.

Daniel José Older is the writer of these comics, with help from Vita Ayala on the Bake-Off Spectacular one-shot. Rebecca Nalty was the colour artist on all comics. Harvey Tolibao was artist on issues 11-13, Pow Rodrix helped with the art on issue 12, Toni Bruno was artist for issues 9, 10 & the Bake-Off while Jo Geyong was co-artist & co-colour artist on the Bake-Off.

Mike tackled the first volume of High Republic Adventures comics in ep 86 of SWCIC and vol 2 in ep 90. He tackled the first volume of High Republic comics (by Cavan Scott) in episode 84 of SWCIC, with vol 2 in episode 88 and vol 3 in ep 92.

It’s time for another spoiler-free book review from the High Republic era! This book is the last of the adult novels for the first phase; it’s The Fallen Star by Claudia Gray! This book is set after The Rising Storm in the third wave of the High Republic’s first phase, set at the same time as Mission to Disaster & Midnight Horizon (which Mike will be tackling in the near future)!

In more detail, Mike confirms where TFS sits in the timeline, provides background info on the book & Claudia Gray, before giving his spoiler-free thoughts. Mike then reads the blurb & crawl and gives his thoughts on the themes & characters, which features some minor spoilers, including some tidbits of information. Mike then finishes his review by providing more-detailed thoughts on the book, it’s ending and confirming the general plot. This is a perfect review for anyone interested in the final adult novel of the High Republic’s first phase; whether you are soon to read it, or have already finished it!

The Fallen Star was released January 4th 2022 and is by Claudia Gray. For The High Republic, she also wrote the young adult novel Into The Dark (Phase 1, Wave 1). She also wrote the non-High-Republic SW books Master & Apprentice, Lost Stars, Leia: Princess Of Alderaan and Bloodline.

Mike interviewed Claudia Gray in December of 2020, and Mike spoke with fellow High Republic architect Cavan Scott in April 2022 and George Mann in May 2023 - all can be found on this feed or you can watch the video versions on YouTube!

The Fallen Star is the adult novel of the third wave of the High Republic’s first phase along with the young adult novel Midnight Horizon and the junior novel Mission To Disaster, all set in 230BBY. Mike has reviewed all books from the first & second waves of phase 1, which are Light Of The Jedi (reviewed March 2021), A Test Of Courage (August ‘21) & Into The Dark (October ‘21) and The Rising Storm (November ‘21), Race To Crashpoint Tower (February ‘22) & Out Of The Shadows (March ’22).

In ep 92, Mike embarked on the finale of the High Republic comics, which is the third volume, called The Jedi’s End - it takes place just before The Fallen Star. In these comics Keeve faces the true face of fear in The Leveler while Sskeer loses his connection to the force, plus Avar Kriss is relentlessly pursuing Lourna Dee at any cost. Amidst this story, Mike also gives additional information on the Frozian, Ugor and Latero species!
