The penultimate episode to Season 3 gets the show back on track and finally brings Moff Gideon back into the fold. We get our first formal look at the Imperial Shadow Council and how Thrawn fits into the grand plan. I discuss a lot of Thrawn's canon history within the Empire and why I am excited to see how they connect the dots between the books and the shows. We also see the Mandalorian clans come together, maybe a bit too smoothly, Bo Katan gets some well needed introspection with the help of Din, and the episode concludes with some good action and the return of some familiar guards. I do have some critiques surrounding the beskar combat that I have held for a while, as well as the ease of integration between the clans.

Star Wars Celebration 2023 is in full swing and weve already got so much new info and looks at the next wave of Star Wars TV and Movies. This is the first time I am missing Celebration since 2017 but even still, the pure energy, love, and appreication for Star Wars is palpable and I think it is a great reset and cleanse for a sometimes divided fandom. I discuss all my thoughts and theories for the 3 movies announced, the Ahsoka series, Acolyte (which is my most anticipated series), and so much more. I watched almost all the panels (that were available) and interviews with the creators/actors so I tried to be as comprehensive as possible and hope you appreciate that. Thanks as always.

Well that was uh... quite an episode of the Mandalorian. With 3 episodes left in the season, the show opts to sidetrack our characters with an inconsequencial story that screeches all momentum built up from last week to a halt. The concept for this episode is cool in a vacuum, but should not be happening at this point in the season. I discuss the continued inconsistent writing, why the overuse of celebrity cameos breaks the immersion of Star Wars, how the end of this episode affects the lore of the Darksaber (not in a good way), and so much more. I have some positives too dont worry.

"The Pirate" desperately needed to start the second half of Season 3 off strong, and thankfully, it succeeds on all fronts. We continue to dive deeper into the disorganized and apathetic structure of the New Republic and we get a GREAT cameo in the process. But the true star of the episode was the action. We finally get to see some top-tier "special ops" type mandalorian tactics and another impressive aerial battle that proves that the dogfights are the strongest part of this season. The episode ends with a mysterious cliffhanger and some loose threads that are hopefully going to lead to the beginnings of the First Order.

Bad Batch caps off an impressive season with everything you could want in a finale, a great cliffhanger with plenty of open questions for the future, top notch music/editing/cinematography, and a significant and emotional chracter death. If you asked me at the end of Season 1 if Bad Batch would get me emotional, I would have called you crazy. This finale sets the tone for whats to come with the Bad Batch and I cannot wait.

This weeks episode was Mandalorian at its best, a fun action adventure with slight ties to the bigger Star Wars universe without being too complex. Grogu really shines this episode showcasing both his Mandalorian side and his Jedi side. We get more insight into his tragic experience during Order 66 and a triumphant return for Jar Jar Binks, but not like you think... Bo Katan's mysterious motivations continue to keep me guessing, should she be trusted or not? Sidenote, this planet also has dragons so I think its time for the enclave to pack it up and relocate.

"The Convert" is Mando's most interesting episode to date, opting to follow Dr. Pershing's time on Coruscant and give us our first true glimpse of the New Republic and how it operates. While the episode might understandably drag for some, I enjoyed the heavy nods to books like Alphabet Squadron, Bloodlines, and Lost Stars, as well as revealing the dark facade of the New Republic. Oh, and this episode starts with one of the best live-action dogfights weve gotten in Star Wars.

The Mines of Mandalore feels like a true start to Season 3 and while there are some noteworthy character and lore building moments, this episode fell short for me due to some uncreative and frankly lazy writing choices that have plagued the start to this season. Bo Katan's character gets well deserved attention, Grogu finally shows some independence, and the big reveal at the end leaves a lot of questions for the future of Mandalore.

Bad Batch continues to impress with character focused episodes in Season 2 and "The Outpost" might be its strongest example yet. From circular themes and narrative plot points, Crosshair's arc, gorgeous animation, and atmospheric score from Kevin Kiner, Episode 12 is one of the Bad Batch's best episodes yet.

Mando is back for the first time since I have had this podcasts so I am so excited to finally review these episodes week to week with you all!
The premiere gives us a fun but typical adventure with the exception that this season feels like the first one where we have a central goal and focus, Mandolore and the fractured state of the clans. We also get some HUGE hints for the future of Star Wars storytelling (watch Rebels). Mando and Grogu's relationship is stronger than ever and you can feel that here, surprise non-Book of Boba Fett watchers!
The action and practical effects continue to impress and give Star Wars that unqiue and magical feel.
