Start from Scratch

We're back after a week break! What a show we have too... I laughed all the way through the edit and a lot of that thanks to the dynamic partnership between our Bomber and Matthew Jones, an ex +2 handicap and former Junior Welsh International. We're proud to take our show down South to Pontypridd this week! During the introduction we touch on some World Changing recent activities where Josh is now a Long Drive winner!! 

We're joined this week by Kristian Taylor, a Professional playing out of Formby Golf Club. Picking up the game at 15 years old, he was somewhat of a natural and came down from 4 to +1 in one season!! So yes, plenty of tips for us hackers. During the intro we reflect on Josh's most recent claim that he felt he was ready to win (spoiler alert, he didn't!), and Trist comes to an Earth-shattering realisation that he is in fact s**t at golf! S.O.S Matthew Tottey! To end we have a brief re-cap of the Start from Scratch Championship and we interview the winner.

Very few people are able to naturally recall stories from almost 20 years on the European Tour like Andrew Murray can! We kept him from a family BBQ but it was hard to even feel bad about it as he gripped us with some of the tales of the Tour days. Now a Radio5Live Commentator and Corporate Golf Event expert he is just as busy! In the intro Josh calls out both his co-hosts Trist & Eddie (No idea what he'd been thinking...) and we briefly touch on Rory's comments earlier this week implying that he "isn't as good anymore" hmmm! To end we discuss whether or not we should be allowed to play in a 5-ball when nobody else is around.

With the return of Edward Beardsley we were at full strength once again! We're joined by Matt Fryer, one of the countries most popular YouTube coaches. As with all of our guests, we loved our time with him and Matt went the extra mile for us by joining us for our Weekly Discussion which is 'Which Major would you rather win?'. Josh blasts a host of questions at Matt about content sharing and his golfing exploits during the interview. We re-cap an eventful week for us as hosts during the Bull Bay Golf Club Open Week which saw Trist win a prestigious prize!

This week is a little different to the usual routine as we reached out to Ryan Brooks, Man of the Moment right now! Ryan just shot 56 around his home course Whittington Heath, yes FIFTY SIX! He takes us through the round and you may notice a silence as we re-gather our sanity. We also wanted to provide the listeners with a different bonus feature so listen in and take part in our golf themed quiz... you've even got 3 seconds to answer!! 

We're back with yet another Touring Professional! This time it is Gary Boyd and he gripped us with tales from playing in Open Championships and his first US Open at Pebble Beach of all places. He also very politely answers some of the most absurd questions from Josh, for which we apologise! During the intro we chat about taking our better halves along with us to the golf course ... yep, we went there! And our Weekly Discussion is a little different as we bore listeners with 'our' Dream Fourballs. They're seriously unimpressive. 

What do you get when you put one of the best golf psychologists in the game and Joshua Griffiths the self-proclaimed Mental Maestro together on a Zoom call? You get this, episode 14. We had the privilege of Dr Karl Morris's time to pick his brains and what an interview it was! You meet certain people in the world of golf that you wish you could spend more time with, and Karl is definitely one of them. During the intro we reflect on our first society outing... if you aren't aware of the results, please please listen! 

We've wanted to host this special episode for a while as it is right down Josh's street... it's a Long Drive special! And who else but 'Quadzilla' himself Bry Roberts as our guest Bomber! In a content packed intro this week we cover Josh's first lesson with Matthew Tottey,  preview our first official SFS Society outing to Carden Park and Josh's matchplay with another of our scratch golfer guests! Bry Roberts answers all of our bizarre questions about the World of Long Drive and we're pretty sure Josh's heart melts...

Blessed with yet another European Tour Player, we're on our best bevahiour! This time though with LET Star Amy Boulden. We are over the moon to have our first official female guest on Start from Scratch and hope Amy leads the way for more in future. The contrast in mind-frames between Amy Boulden and Josh was as evident as you'd expect... During the introduction we discuss a major change in Josh's life, and our Weekly Discussion returns with whether or not we really make the most of the different types of golf games out there?! We're somehow managing to get genuine top coaches and swing guru's to come and have a chat with us?! Not sure how, but it's happening. This week we are joined by SolidGolf Instructor and Today's Golfer Magazine coach Adrian Fryer, and his knowledge of all things golf shocks us to be honest. Adrian has so much experience, but I don't think he was quite prepared for meeting our own resident swing guru Joshua Griffiths. To introduce the show Josh talks us through his most recent round of golf... Wow. Wow. Wow. Speechless.
