The Digital Future for Europe coalition is calling on the EU Commission to take a new approach to tech regulation and improve conditions for start-ups.

Considering what this new EU Commission could mean for European start-ups and tech businesses, a coalition representing these groups has been formed.

While Tracworx bagged the top prize, Atlantic Photonic Solutions won €50,000 for its fish-friendly light that aims to remove sea lice from farmed salmon.

Limerick start-up Tracworx was announced as the winner of the annual InterTradeIreland Seedcorn competition last night (28 November).

The business has won a cash prize of €100,000 for its performance in the competition.

As WhatsApp is still reeling under the controversies surrounding the data protection and traceability, the instant messaging app has announced its plan to invest $250K worth of ad-creds to boost the Indian startup ecosystem.

Ajit Bose, head of WhatsApp India’s operations, said that Indian entrepreneurs are at the forefront of bringing impactful social and economic changes and WhatsApp is committed to providing the required support to Indian startups.

The interested startups can apply on StartUp India’s website and the selection will be on the first-come-first-serve basis.

Gurugram-based automobile repair and service solution startup GoMechanic has received $5 Mn (INR 35.69 Cr) in Series B from its existing investor Sequoia Capital.

The company had raised this $5 Mn funding from Sequoia in January 2019.

With this investment, the company’s valuation has risen to $44 Mn (INR 316 Cr).

In January when GoMechanic raised $5 Mn from Sequoia, Inc42 reported that the funds will be utilised to expand to new cities and bulk up hiring at leadership positions along with expenses on brand-building.
