Bright.md raised more money for its AI-powered virtual healthcare service as the Portland, Ore.-based startup helps screen patients with COVID-19-like symptoms.

The software is meant to help physicians treat patients more quickly and efficiently without having them actually step foot inside an office.

Ray Costantini, co-founder and CEO of Bright.md, said the funding will help speed up the company’s market expansion amid the novel coronavirus outbreak.

He noted that SmartExam can also help patients with non-COVID-19-related symptoms as hospitals deal with capacity issues.

The Ontario Centres for Excellence (OCE) and four of its industry partners, have created a collaboration platform aimed to identify technologies, businesses, and experts from across the province that could help fill the current product and service gaps related to COVID-19.

Organizations working to provide an innovative product, service, or expertise to support Ontario’s COVID-19 response are being asked to share their capabilities, barriers, and needs through the collaboration platform.

Through its existing network of businesses, experts, and business development managers, OCE aims to help connect businesses and tech developers to accelerate the commercialization of in-demand products.

The platform is being launched along with OCE partners, MaRS Discovery District, Invest Ottawa, Communitech, and the Automotive Parts Manufacturer’s Association.

Google announced on Friday that it is committing more than $800 million in grants to support small and medium businesses (SMBs) across the world, in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

The aid will be extended to various health organisations, governments, and also health workers.

A $200 million investment fund will support NGOs and financial institutions around the world to help provide small businesses with access to capital.

SMBs across the world that have had active Google Ads accounts over the last one year will get $340 million in credits.

Helm.ai, a Menlo Park, CA-based scalable AI for autonomous driving, raised $13m in seed funding.

Backers included A.Capital Ventures, Amplo, Binnacle Partners, Sound Ventures, Fontinalis Partners, SV Angel, Nicolas Berggruen, Charlie Cheever, Adam D’Angelo, Kevin Durant, David Petraeus, Navneet Dalal, Lee Linden and Vladimir Tenev, among others.

The company intends to use the funds to advance engineering and R&D and hire more employees.

Today Sy&Se, the Swiss startup that has developed a pioneering new tech for binding different types of glass to metal, has announced successfully closing a seed round from a group of private investors, including Business Angel Switzerland.

Sy&Se, founded in 2017, is a deeptech startup pioneering glass and metal binding.

The discovery of this technology was made as part of a CTI project between the HE-Arc and a group of Swiss fine watchmaking.
