After a 2 week hiatus, we are back on the podcast and we are celebrating another Hudson County Championship for our Basketball Team, a clean sweep of Marauders advancing to the Wrestling Regions, and Fencing heading to the Quarterfinals of the State Tournament.
We are now in the crux of our winter season as we have playoffs and championships galore throughout our program as Track, Swimming, and Wrestling all continued their streaks as Hudson County Champions, with the Fencing Team clinching a spot in the state tournament as well as Basketball winning 10 games in a row.
What a week for our Marauders! A bunch of victories to talk about program wide as the track team are back-to-back NJCTC champions, Swimming gets a huge victory over PCTI with Frankie Prekop taking victory from the jaws of defeat, Fencing defeating #1 Chatham, Wrestling defending The Barn in multiple matches and Basketball had a big week, including defeating #7 Rutgers Prep.
Prep vs. Hudson Catholic has been one of the best rivalries not only in the county but in the state as well. Everyone will remember where they were when Richie Rosa '26 hit the game-winning 3 pointer to defeat the Hawks 76-74. What a night it was and while mother nature played havoc for the week in forcing cancellation of contests and rescheduling of them, it resulted in another Jersey City Championship for the track guys, the wrestling team destroying PCTI, and a perfect week for our Basketball squad.
An up and down week across the board for our teams but a lot of positives came about as some school records were broken as well as some nailbiting wins for our #5 Fencing and #4 Basketball teams.
What a week we just had for our Marauders as they have been making statements all across the board, from the Basketball Team showing why they are a top 5 team in the state with a couple of dominant efforts, including a blowout victory against the then #5 team in the state Ramapo, at the New Year’s Jump Off. The Wrestling Team opened up their home campaign with a dual meet between the #3 and #4 teams in the state in our Marauders and Bergen Catholic and the Marauders made a statement to the state in dominant fashion, and the Swimming, Bowling, and Fencing teams continue their top 20 run in the state with victories of their own as well.

Welcome to the New Year! It is 2024 ladies and gentlemen and we wish all of our Marauder programs for a lot of success heading into the New Year and while the school is still on winter break for a few more days, we still have athletics to discuss, including our Wrestlers competing in the Sam Cali Invitational, our Basketball Team competing in the Governor’s Challenge and our track guys competing in a couple of local races as well.
Merry Christmas for all those who celebrate and Happy Holidays as we begin winter break at Grand and Warren but we still have athletics to talk about as we will talk about everything that happened this week, including big results on Mega Monday and other statement victories this week!
Hot starts throughout our program as Basketball and Swimming had decisive victories this week, with our wrestlers starting their season off at the Beast Of The East Tournament. We had Wrestling Head Coach Anthony Verdi ‘95, and Senior Captains Domenick Lettini '24 and Jonathan Fuller '24 join us on this week’s State Of The Marauders Hotline to talk about the expectations they have set for the season.
