The past few weeks we have discussed the definition of ‘Providence’, in relation to God’s creation.

Today, we focus on God’s special act of providence, in terms of man’s salvation and justification through the atonement of Christ for His elect.

‘Providence’ is a term seldom used or understood in modernity. However, it is a good and Biblical phrase, that describes the protective care and outworking of God’s hand in creation.

Last week, we considered “what are the decrees of God”. In this installment of our series examining, ‘A Puritan Catechism’; we consider how the Lord executes his decrees in creation.

Through special care and Providence, we see that God is always at work bringing about good for those that love him, and ultimately glory to His name.

The scriptures tell us that; “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” (Numbers‬ ‭23‬:‭19‬ ‭ESV‬‬)
