Relationships / Friendships
You do not have to be friends with people who are mean to you
You cannot change a person’s heart —> only God can do that
Recognize patterns early on in a relationship (both within yourself and your partner) and ask yourself, “why does this keep happening”?
It takes two people to make a relationship / friendship work don’t take 100% of the blame for things not working out
Consistency is key - keep showing up
It’s okay to let friends go - even when it hurts or even when you don’t want to let go
Your circle grows smaller as you get older and that’s okay
You can’t take back words already spoken - choose them wisely
You do not have to go to church every weekend, but just like a marriage, if you do not come home every night, how will your marriage survive? Going to church is like going home - it’s necessary
You are who you spend your time with - who do you want to become? When you are unsure - pray and when you are sure - pray some more. Invite God in
God is good even when your circumstances are not
God grieves with you when you are in pain —> run to him
Being sad / depressed is not un-spiritual - there are psalms that express this very thing, so no, there is nothing wrong with you!
Faith is a personal journey but if no one knows about your walk with Christ are you really living in God’s presence?
It is better to show up in person (when possible) than sending a bible verse - be the good news in action and not only in words
Be on guard when life is good - it is SO easy to think you’ve figured life out
Sin hides in secret - be open and honest with a few so that they can hold you accountable
Mentors and premarital counseling makes a good marriage so much easier, enjoyable, and achievable
Whatever you do in this life - do it with everything you have. Work well not for the approval of others but for their good and the Glory of God
Save up to buy real gold jewelry - better to wait and have less than turn green
Heatless curls - aka silk sausages- work! Stop killing your hair as soon as possible. Use heat for special occasions but avoid it as much as possible when it comes to day to day use
Time > money but both are important. Choose where you spend both wisely
Invest in therapy for both the mind and the body
You only wear 20% of your wardrobe most months, do a clean out at least once a year
Eat more protein (think of food as eating more of something good rather than eating less of food in general) and move your body weekly
Oysters are great for your health - especially for women
If you can’t travel as much as you want to, read- literature teaches and takes you places
Make moments to pause and be grateful for all God has provided
If you are unsure about something, put it on hold and leave. Most times you will not go back for it.
