We've been training all week... you know its coming... time to bite the bullet, tie the shoelaces tight and brace yourself its time for the long run. That most brutal and battering day of your training but we promise it's there for a reason.
In this weeks Steadcast we talk about the mental and physical benefits of the long run and share our personal experience with how they have affected our running over the years.
We've ranted about them, we've seen the effects and we've discussed our opinions... but guess what? We now both own them! Let's crack the box open and catch up on all things carbon shoes and discuss the pros and cons of using them on the regular.
We're back!
Its been far far too long and we're determined to get recording again. Just like the world of running, we've had our own challenges to work out as we've moved into 2021, but it felt great to record again!
In this comeback episode we have a long overdue catch up and hear Kierans own comeback to racing as we relive his most recent race at the Podium 5K.
We also have a little chat about shoes and look forward to racing (and the pub!) becoming a regular occurrence!
Thanks as always
Sam And Kieran
It's all over! What a crazy marathon day it was. We don't think there have ever been so many twists and turns in the build up to such a highly anticipated marathon. Kieran and Sam discuss their own marathon day experiences in the form of their involvement in the virtual race, then turn their attention to a somewhat predictable finish in the women's elite race and then a complete contrast in the mens race. We also discuss the British race and all the details in between. Who knows what 2021 might bring us
It's almost time to get out for that one of a kind 26.2 mile enigma that is the London Marathon and after such a long lay off Kieran and Sam are excited to be discussing every aspect!
We catch up with the training and recovery of the hosts and what the Steadfast team will be doing to mark the occasion on Sunday October 4th.
We talk the professional race and the how the spirit of the marathon has been carried through these difficult times. Oh yeah and we even contemplate a world record too!
Thanks for being back with us!
Its that time that only rolls around once every 4 years... well 5 years I guess now. In the week that record this episode, we should have been waking up early to watch the sun rise over the Tokyo 2020 games, but the year obviously had different plans... in place of the opening ceremony we talk about some of our favourite olympic moments, including world records, amazing stories and how some people aren't quite able to hack it on the world stage.
This is likely to be one of a few olympic podcasts as we found the stories are simply endless.
Enjoy!
back with some regularity, at least! Today we catch up on more of the news and then very simply talk about why coaching is so important.
Sam talks about his opinions on the benefits since taking his running more seriously and about how having Kieran on board has helped in some tough moments.
Kieran takes us through some key areas of his story and reinforces exactly what you can expect to benefit from if you want to self coach or use someone like him to get guidance and improve your running.
Back face to face! and to make sure that we don't jump the gun both Kieran and Sam take it easy throughout this social spaced outdoor pod!
We discuss easy running, the types, the benefits and give some simple differences between the types of running you can include in your training to keep your mind and body engaged!
As always please leave us your feedback about what you'd like to hear next as this pod was inspired by the Steadfast runners group chat... it's proof we also listen to you!
Thanks again!
We're back! after a lay off that's been far too long, we finally got our heads together, and who better to get involved that Kieran's lockdown partner Emily Moyes, who just so happens to be an experienced athlete now competing at in the steeplechase.
We talk what is a steeplechase, how it's different from everything else in the circuit as well as Emily's journey from the UK to America and we finally get some refreshingly new perspective from a female point of view on several of the questions send in by you, the listeners!
Thanks again, I promise we'll try not to leave it so long this time!
Best, Sam
