Steel City Strings Manager, Jeremy Boulton interviews violinist, Cedar Newman. Cedar is a student of Lucie Robert at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College and the recipient of the Kate Bamberger Scholarship for strings 2020/21. She won the Pre-College Philharmonic String Concerto Competition 2020. Cedar has also studied with Sarah Hindson, Albert Markov and studies piano with Gian-Franco Ricci.
Cedar has performed recitals, as soloist with orchestra, in chamber music and orchestral concerts in Australia and North America. In 2020, she was a finalist for the Adelphi Concerto Competition in New York and the Melbourne Bach Competition. During COVID-19 Cedar enjoyed the opportunity to develop her knowledge of the violin and cello duo repertoire. She is an online student of Wolsey Home School College Oxford.
