In our final Cocodona 250 post-race interview, we chat with thru-hiker and 16-time FKT holder, Jeff Garmire. Prior to Cocodona, Jeff's longest race was a 50K, but his multi-day efforts on long trails seemed to give him a huge advantage for the epic race from Black Canyon City to Flagstaff. Jeff talks to us about his hallucinations, his mindset during long days in the mountains, and explains the backstory of his tiger-themed clothing. Follow Jeff's journey @thefreeoutside on Instagram, and explore more of his amazing adventures in his book, "Free Outside."
Today we talk with Dawn Greenwalt from Flagstaff, AZ. Despite having never raced more than 80 miles before, Dawn finished 2nd on the women's podium at the inaugural Cocodona 250. We caught up with her a couple of weeks after her big finish and learned more about her running and how her first 200-plus mile race unfolded. Follow her journey on Instagram @greenwaltdawn.
In today's Cocodona post-race conversation, we chat with 5th place finisher Sarah Ostaszewski. Sarah resides in the PNW, but is no stranger to running in Arizona. She is a regular at other Aravaipa events like Black Canyon 100K and Javelina Jundred, and now she's successfully tackled the big 255-mile distance in 99 hours. Follow Sarah's journey on Instagram @SarahOstaszewski
Today's Cocodona post-race conversation is with Stefan Fiandeiro. At just 20 years old, the Bay Area runner was the youngest person to toe the line at the inaugural Cocodona 250. He was also the only runner to tackle the entire race while wearing a Santa hat through the sweltering days and cold nights. This earned him the nickname "Santa Hat Kid" from our livestream viewers, but he quickly evolved into "Stefan Claus" as we got to know him throughout the race when we checked in with him and his crew on the livestream. Follow his adventures on Instagram @santarunsultras.
Today's Cocodona post-race conversation is with Shelby Farrell. The SoCal-based runner also does media for goodr sunglasses, so you may recognize her if you caught any of the Cocodona Livestream on YouTube. Shelby holds the self-supported FKT on the 68-mile Backbone Trail in California. She also hosted our Cocodona pre-race interview series.
