There is not enough known about ICU Delirium. I was recently in the ICU for a month, and went through horrible delirium. I heard and saw things that were not there, and thought things were happening to me that were not. It’s horribly frightening to go through, and 80% of people in the ICU get it. It is worse for Covid patients where no family members can come to the room for support. This is my experience. #ICU #ICUDelirium #Covid

Experiencing delirium in the ICU can be terrifying. As in my case, I thought I was kidnapped and the hospital staff was trying to kill me. This delirium can be equivalent to having a traumatic brain injury and most sufferers go through PTSD. Hospitals do not pay enough attention to this growing and deadly problem that affects 80% of all ICU patients. This leads to longer hospital stays and a lower 6 month survival rate than patients without delirium. My goal is to educate patients, families, and hospitals themselves about how they can help prevent this horrible situation.
