This is the STEM Positive Disruptor: Another MIA conversation with special guest Carlien Bou-Chedid. She is the Immediate Past President, Federation of African Engineering Organisations, Consulting Structural/Earthquake Engineer.
She describes herself as" a visionary who takes action to achieve impactful transformation.
Carlien is a trailblazer, breaking down barriers, she is the 48th and first female president of the Ghana Institution of Engineers, GhIE, She is also the first female and first Ghanaian president of Federation of African Engineering Organization (FAEO). Wow, what a powerhouse and truly a very powerful and strong role model to many. Although we only have a snippet of her life, it is worth listening to our conversation as she shares words of wisdom where STEM education is concerned, listen up governments, education system, there is something to learn here, the importance of being intentional in our approach, introduce our young people from an early age (primary school) to STEM subjects, we need to review how we teach STEM in schools, especially Maths and Science, Retrain our teachers and giving them better tools for teaching and much more besides.
Please listen, enjoy and spread the message. Thank you.
